UK Rising Star 프로 라틴의 떠오르는 별 Julian & Melanie 인터뷰   지난 8월17일 서울 그랜드힐튼호텔 컨벤션센터 4층에서 열렸던 2008 제3회 회장배 전국장애인댄스스포츠선수권대회 및 프로아마추어 댄스스포츠 선수권대회에서 스텐더드 시범을 보였던  Timothy Howson & Joanne Bolton 과 함께 라틴 시범을 보였던 Julian & Melanie와 인터뷰를 가졌다. * It was good to meet you and enjoyed your demonstration. Who did invite you to Korea this time and what you made decision coming to Korea? Pls comment on impression. Our initial invitation came from Mr Lee at Semely Dance Studio in London but this was through Mr Park. 이번 방한은 어떻게 이루어져 오게 된 것인가? -런던의 Semley Studio 미스터 리가 권했고 이번엔 미스터 박(박상운씨)이 초대해줬다.   2. Pls list your career in Dance life for Korean Fans. When did you start Dancesports(you and your partner respectively). When you meet together? 언제부터 춤을 추기 시작했으며(각각) 언제 둘이 만났는가? I started when I was 12 but had several years off whilst doing other sports. Melanie started when she was 13.  We started dancing together after we both moved to Brisbane, Australia and started dancing at the same studio. 나는 12살 때부터였으나 다른 운동을 하느라고 몇 년 쉬기도 했다. 멜라니는 13살부터 했다. 호주 브레스베인에 있는 한 스튜디오에서 만나 춤을 같이 하기 시작했다.   4. Which dance do you like best and with what reason? This does vary from time to time.  At the moment I love Samba, it’s the music of the carnival.  Melanie love Rumba as this dance is all about the woman. 어떤 춤을 가장 좋아하며 그 이유는? - 가끔 달라지기도 한다. 지금은 삼바를 좋아하는데 카니발의 음악이기 때문이다. 멜라니는 룸바를 좋아하는데 룸바는 여성에 관한 모든 것이기 때문이다.   5. You have watched the final competition at Grand Hilton Hotel and met many other Korean dancers. What about your comments? We both feel the Korean dancers are very talented and very dedicated.  They show a lot of promise and we are sure in the future with the right guidance Korean dancers will be a force on the international circuit. 이번에 그랜드 힐튼에서 앞서 열린 대회에서 한국 선수들을 보았을 것이다. 어떻게 보았는가? - 우리 둘 다 한국 선수들은 대단히 재주가 있고 헌신적이라고 느꼈다. 많은 기대를 갖게 했으며 앞으로 한국 선수들이 세계 순회대회에서 큰 힘을 발휘할 것이라고 생각한다.    6. Pls tell us some memorable things in your dancing life. Winning the UK Rising Star Latin this year was one the biggest highlights.  Also winning our first Australian title.  But it goes beyond winning, its becoming close friends with some amazing people that we have met through dance that will stay with us for ever. 당신의 댄스 라이프에서 기억에 남을만한 일이 있다면? - 금년에 UK 라이징 스타 라틴에서 우승한 것이 가장 큰 것이다. 호주 대회에서 우승한 것도 마찬가지이다. 그렇지만 우승을 떠나 춤을 통해서 알게 된 좋은 사람들과 가까워진 것과 앞으로도 같이 할 수 있게 되었다는 것이다.   7. Pls tell us your philosophy in dance. DANCESOUL.  춤에 대한 철학이 있다면? - 댄스 소울이다.   8. Can you say some good things about your partnership? We have had our ups and downs like all partnerships but we have now been together for 7 years so I think you can say we know each other very well.  We have learned to work together to achieve our goals.  파트너 자랑을 한다면? - 다른 파트너들처럼 우리도 좋을 때도 있었고 나쁠 때도 있었다. 그러나 우리는 7년이나 같이 했고 서로를 잘 안다고 말할 수 있겠다. 우리는 우리의 목표를 향해 같이 한다는 것을 배웠다.   9. Your future plan in dance life? To be able to bring pleasure to every audience we dance for. 앞으로의 계획은? - 모든 관중들에게 즐거움을 주기 위해 춤을 출 수 있게 되기를 바란다.   10. How do you make your body? Are you doing some weight training? If it is true, pls advise difference between normal weight training and special weight training for Dancesports. We train 4 or 5 times a week.  Melanie goes to the gym 3 times a week.  That’s it.  No special training, just some strength work. 당신의 바디를 어떻게 단련했는가?  웨이트 트레이닝을 하는가? 그렇다면 일반 웨이트 트레이닝과 댄스스포츠를 위한 웨이트 트레이닝은 어떻게 다른가? - 우리는 체육관에 운동하러 일주일에 4-5번 간다. 멜라니는 3번 정도 간다. 특별한 훈령은 아니고 근육운동을 한다.   11. Pls comment on trend of Latin dancing. Any difference between Australia and UK? There are not any differences except for the number of dancers and their dedication.  The biggest advantage about being in the UK is that you are always surrounded by quality dancers and have the opportunity to compete on a regular basis against the top couples in the world. 라틴댄스의 경향에 대해 얘기해 달라? 호주와 영국은 어떻게 다른가? - 차이는 없고 다만 저변인구와 투신 정도의 차이이다. 영국의 가장 큰 강점은 언제나 수준급의 선수들에게 둘러 싸여 있으며 통상적으로 세계적인 선수들과 경쟁할 기회가 있다는 것이다. 12. Pls advise some general comments to Korean fans for becoming good dancer. Listen to your coaches, don’t fight with your partner and train as much as you can. 한국팬들에게 춤을 잘 추려면 어떻게 해야 하는지 말해 달라. - 코치 말 잘 듣고 파트너와 싸우지 말고 연습을 많이 할 것.   13. Do you have your home page on internet? Melanie is the only daughter and has 3 brothers.  None of them dance so she is the only dancer in her family.  I have a brother and a sister, both of them dance.  My brother runs a dance studio in Australia, whilst my sister compete for England in the Professional Standard section. 그밖에 춤과 관련하여 더 할 얘기 있으면 해 달라. - 멜라니는 혼자 딸이고 3 남형제가 있는데 멜라니만 춤을 춘다. 나는 남녀 형제가 있는데 남자 형제는 호주에서 뛰고 있고 여자 형제는 영국에서 프로 스탠더드에서 뛰고 있다.     15. Do you have a plan come to Korea again? How often? We are planning on returning to Korea at least 3 times per year if you will have us. 한국에 또 올 계획이 있는가? 불러만 준다면 한국에 일 년에 적어도 3번은 가고 싶다.   16.
