#OnView 갤러리현대는 갤러리현대 두가헌 갤러리에서 오늘부터 2025년 1월 9일까지 이건용 《Lee Kun-Yong》을 개최한다. 이번 전시에서는 이건용 작가의 대표 연작 〈Bodyscape 76-3〉 2점과 이를 확장한 드로잉 작업 〈Bodyscape 76-3 Drawing〉 15점을 소개한다.

”〈Bodyscape 76-3 Drawing〉은 〈Bodyscape 76-3〉의 소위 ‘하트’ 형상을 참조하는 일에서 출발했다. 〈Bodyscape 76-3 Drawing〉과 〈Bodyscape 76-3〉은 ‘기록’이라는 작업의 맥락은 동일하지만, 드로잉 연작은 그 결과를 하나의 기호나 이미지로 접근한다는 측면에서 〈Bodyscape 76-3〉 연작과 결정적으로 상이하다. 다만, 신체의 행위 그 자체를 기록하기보다는, 내가 경험했거나 상상한, 익숙하면서도 낯선, 여러 기호와 형태 등을 아크릴 물감을 비롯해 색연필, 볼펜, 매직 등을 사용해서 대량생산 된 소비 제품의 종이 포장재에 기록했다.“ – 이건용

Gallery Hyundai is pleased to present 𝙇𝙚𝙚 𝙆𝙪𝙣-𝙔𝙤𝙣𝙜 (@leekunyong79), a solo exhibition at Gallery Hyundai Dugahun from December 5, 2024, to January 9, 2025. The exhibition showcases two paintings from Lee Kun-Yong‘s acclaimed 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦 76-3 series alongside fifteen drawings from the extended series, 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦 76-3 𝘋𝘳𝘢𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨.

”𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦 76-3 𝘋𝘳𝘢𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 started by referring to the so-called “heart” shapes of 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦 76-3. While 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦 76-3 𝘋𝘳𝘢𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 and 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦 76-3 have the same context in terms of “recording,” the drawing series is crucially distinguished from 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦 76-3 in approaching the result of recording as a symbol or image. Rather than recording the corporeal motions themselves, I recorded both familiar and unfamiliar signs and forms that I have experienced or imagined using acrylic paint, colored pencils, ballpoint pens, markers and more on the paper packaging from mass-produced consumer products.“ – Lee Kun-Yong
