Item 22 : Jae - mok (在目,재목)... Eyes Filled with Sincerity... Item 26.
● Jae - mok (在目,재목) means always filling one′s eyes with sincerity,
without consciously pondering upon the place where sincerity reesidess.
● there is nothing that the eyes cannot perceive when looking at things.
● If true sincerity resides in one′s eyes,
there is no need to grasp or know the formal names of nearby objects,
and it is entirely sufficient for distant objects to simply appear as if they were a painting.
[Original Text]
Jae - mok means not thinking about where sincerity is,
yet having it always remain within one′s eyes.
When the eyes look at things,
theree is no object that remains unseen.
However, if sincere intent resides in the eyes,
then even for nearby not dwell on their names,
and for distant things, they are viewed simply like a painting.
