화 있을찐저 외식하는 서기관들과 바리새인들이여 너희가 박하와 회향과 근채의 십일조를 드리되 율법의 더 중한바 의와 인과 신은 버렸도다 그러나 이것도 행하고 저것도 버리지 말아야 할찌니라 소경된 인도자여 하루살이는 걸러 내고 약대는 삼키는도다 화 있을찐저 외식하는 서기관들과 바리새인들이여 잔과 대접의 겉은 깨끗이 하되 그 안에는 탐욕과 방탕으로 가득하게 하는도다.

"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel."Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.

서기관과 바리새인들은 백성들에게 하나님의 말씀을 가르치는 지도자였다. 그들의 겉모습은 하나님을 매우 잘 믿는 것처럼 보였다. 그러나 그들의 실상은 참된 믿음이 없고, 율법주의 신앙을 가진 것이다.그들은 종교적인 행위와 행사를 열심히 지켰다, 그들의 마음은 주님과 멀어졌고, 하나님을 믿지 않았던 것이다, 그들은 각종 절기와 할례와 안식일을 잘 지켰고, 열심히 십일조와 헌물을 성전에 바쳤다.

이런 것들은 외적으로 보여주는 종교 행사들인 것이다.이런 것들도 필요하지만 이보다 더 중요한 것이 있다. 그것은 우리의 마음이 지켜야 하는 것이다. 더 중요한 요소는 의와 사랑과 신이다, “의”는 의로운 마음과 행위다, “사랑”은 하나님과 이웃을 진정으로사랑하는 마음이다, “신”은 오직 하나님만 구원자로 믿는 믿음인 것이다.그들은 인간 눈에 보이는 종교적인 형식만 열심히 치루고 그들의 마음은 세상 욕망으로 가득차있다,

그들의 잘못된 믿음을 보시고 예수님께서 그들을 꾸짖고 회개하라고 촉구하신 것입니다.오늘날에도 바리새인 같은 교인들이 매우 많다,겉모습으로는 오래 동안 예수를 믿고, 물세례 받았고, 주일 예배에 열심히 참여하고, 성찬식에 참여하고 십일조를 열심히 드리고, 교회의 높은 직분도 가진다. 그러나 그들은 의로운 마음을 버리고, 남을 용서하지 못하고, 예수를 유일한 구원자로 믿지 못하는 것이다.이런 교인들은 하나님의 말씀보다 인간의 교리를 믿는 것이다, 바리새인 같은 믿음을 가진 것이다.

성경은 믿음의 마음과 믿음의 행위를 둘 다 갖쳐야 참된 믿음으로 인정하는 것입니다.마음은 예수를 믿는데, 그에게 믿음의 행위가 없다면 그는 가짜 믿음을 가졌다.사람들 눈에 보이는 행위만 열심히 잘 하고, 그 마음에 예수님이 없다면 이것도 역시 헛된 믿음이다.우리 마음이 진정으로 예수를 구원자로 믿고, 예수님의 말씀을 우리의 생활 속에 실천해야 참된 믿음인 것이다.성령이 우리의 죄를 깨닫게 하실 때 즉시 회개하는 것이 참된 믿음이다.

우리의 보이지 않는 마음과 보이는 행위가 하나로 되어서, 주님의 말씀에 순종하며 회개할 때 우리의 믿음은 천국에 가는 참된 믿음으로 인정되는 것이다.

The scribes and Pharisees were leaders who taught the people the word of God.On the outside, they seemed to believe in God very well.However, in reality, they did not have true faith and had a legalistic faith.They diligently observed religious acts and ceremonies, their hearts were far from the Lord, and they did not believe in God.

They diligently observed various festivals, circumcision, and the Sabbath, and diligently offered tithes and offerings to the temple.

These are religious ceremonies that are outwardly visible.These are necessary, but there is something more important.That is what our hearts must keep. The more important elements are righteousness, love, and faith.“Righteousness” is a righteous heart and actions, “Love” is a heart that truly loves God and one’s neighbor,“Faith” is a faith that believes that only God is the savior.

They only diligently perform religious formalities that are visible to human eyes, and their hearts are filled with worldly desires.Jesus rebuked them and urged them to repent when he saw their wrong beliefs. Even today, there are many believers like the Pharisees.On the outside, they have believed in Jesus for a long time, have been baptized, diligently participate in Sunday services, participate in the Holy Communion, diligently give tithes, and hold high positions in the church.

However, they have abandoned their righteous hearts, cannot forgive others, and cannot believe in Jesus as the only Savior. Such believers believe in human doctrines more than the Word of God, and have faith like the Pharisees.The Bible recognizes that one must have both a heart of faith and acts of faith to have true faith. If one believes in Jesus in his heart, but does not have acts of faith, then he has a false faith.

If one only diligently does acts that are visible to people, but does not have Jesus in his heart, then this is also a vain faith. True faith is when our hearts truly believe in Jesus as our Savior and practice Jesus' words in our lives.True faith is when we immediately repent when the Holy Spirit makes us realize our sins. When our invisible heart and visible actions become one, and we obey the Lord's words and repent, our faith is recognized as true faith that leads to heaven.
