Welcome! Fearlessly Daring Jade
I am pleased to
have you in my Monday Euphony Presentation Class. Ahead of beginning my
comments, I would like to explain the purpose of this class. It was expressly
designed for checking each person’s presentation
manner on the stage. On Mondays, presenters would convey what they had
memorized during a week. Keeping gestures, pronunciation, stress and chunk
between words in check comes to a quantum leap of your English Presentation
Skill. Let me allow check out these matters.
In your Moojuk history,
not a day goes by without delivering presentations on the stage, not a week
goes by without being on the stage, especially in my class. All your blood and
sweat for having your English skill improved soon pay off. And this will become
a driving force to get ahead in your lifetime in not only Moojuk, but also in
your department.
<Pronunciation>
Please imitate each word by listening to voice records on the
following site.

From this momentum on, I am going to
explain how to pronounce each word, more than how to make each alphabet sound
correctly.
Ahead of my comment, I want to say ’Thank
you’. Since you were not supposed to deliver your presentation in this time,
you might be embarrassed, and possibly annoyed due to my rude attitude towards
you. Though you were newcomer of this academy, without any grumbling and any
hesitate, you succeeded to make it. I deeply admire you for your cultivate
mindset. Actually it is written in Moojuk Mantra No.3, saying ‘I will rise to
any challenge.’ Keep the magic spell in mind, and study forward.
[Th]ird, Four[th]
The way to
pronounce ‘TH’ is to put your tongue between your teeth and you voicing ‘ㄷ’ sound. You should
keep this in mind speaking not only the word ‘These’, but also ‘This’, ‘Them’, ‘That’,
‘Those’, and so on and so forth. Plus, when you pronounce ‘R’ in the middle of
the word ‘Fourth’, please make it clearly.
Year
Its phonetic alphabet is [jɪr]. A
pronunciation of ‘Year’ is much longer than a pronunciation of ‘Ear’ which
sounds as same as phonetic alphabet, [ɪr]. The sounds
between them should be distinguished.
Leg[a]cy
Please make it sure that ‘a’ sounds like ‘ㅓ’, not ‘ㅏ’.
April
Pronounce ‘A’
as we call this alphabet and then making ‘p’ sound explosively. ‘i’ in the
middle of this word is voiced ‘ㅓ’.
Inaugurate
The alphabet ‘a’
pronounce like ‘ㅗ’ according to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary.
Queen
Your ‘Q’ sound
is often voiced like Alphabet ‘C’. For having your pronunciation enhance, I
would like you to check your shape of mouth by the time of voicing ‘Q’ sound.
Making your lips round (O-shape) is best way to pronounce ‘Q’ exactly. And its
phonic sound maybe heard like ‘Qwuh’. Listening to pronunciations of ‘Queen,
Equal, and Quality’ would be helpful to understand this.
<Long Vowel Sound & Stress>
From now on,
rather than showing each phonetic alphabet, I will let you know stress and long
vowel sound on words with simple method.
Red colored character = It is the alphabet you ought to put stress on.
Underlined
character = It is the
alphabet you must voice long vowel sound.
Most of stresses
were weak. The following words were outstanding matters.
Die, Enshrine, Inaugurate
<Ending Sound>
There were no mistakes in ending sound.
<Intonation>
I think you had
listened to its audio file several times. Please keeps this momentum going!
<Manner>
The mood around
you was calm and gentle. Good job!
<Mission>
As I mentioned
you in the class, one paragraph that you delivered is the memory you are able
to convey without any preparation. If you put your effort on your memorization
harder than now, it would become the root for your English study. This week’s
aim is reading this part more than 50 times. Let us meet on next Monday class.
What better way
is there to enhance your English in a short time than to attend Euphony
Classes, especially Monday Class? Please be on the stage on upcoming Mondays. I
cannot thank you enough for all that you have done in my class. Thank you so
much.
