Great is your faith: be it unto you even as you wilt
“And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O Woman, great is your faith: be it unto you even as you wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.” (Matthew 15:27-28)
When I first started my life of faith, when I first believed in Jesus, I heard this sermon and received what I called grace(?).
If I analyze it now, I think it was a strong challenge and a spur to action.
It was about having a parental faith and getting closer to the Lord the more difficult it is, and like the Canaanite woman, your wish will come true.
When I listened to the sermon of the church called David's Parade, I remembered my youth when I was greatly challenged and gained courage, and I laughed bitterly.
There is nothing wrong with a church that gives hope and dreams to frustrated youth.
However, without an explanation of the procedure and context of David's salvation and the substance of his faith, it is truly a poisonous tree and poisonous fruit.
It's like scratching someone's leg and thinking, Oh, it's refreshing.
For example, if we preach that if we give even a small amount to the Lord through the miracle of the five loaves and two fish, the Lord will feed 5,000 people and leave 12 baskets left over, then, as I said last time, we are only looking at the hand pointing to the moon.
It would be like only looking at the hand without looking at the moon.
This is the story of those who believe in Jesus.
Just as faith is not for everyone (2 Thessalonians 3:2), Christianity, which has the Spirit of Christ in him, is not for everyone.
The church in Antioch, which was a Gentile, finally received the nickname of Christians because they knew the repentance that leads to life (Acts 11:18, 26).
You cannot say Christianity when you put Christ, who is the resurrection and life, outside of you.
Usually, it would be okay to say that you believe in Jesus.
When this Canaanite woman cried out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me,” to heal her demon-possessed daughter, the Lord did not answer her.
Why is that?
This woman is a Gentile and has nothing to do with David's descendants.
The Lord said, I am not sent but unto to the lost sheep of the house Israel” (Matthew 15:24).
Hearing this, the woman quickly changes his name.
She changed his name, Lord, help me. (Matthew 15:25).
Since the Lord Jesus Christ is the Lord of all things, it is right for even Gentiles to call him Lord.
But the Lord gives another riddle-like word here.
He answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread and to cast it to the dogs. (Matthew 15:26)
What does bread have to do with this woman’s wish, and why does the Lord talk about bread?
Now, this incident is caught between the miracle of five loaves and two fish and the miracle of seven loaves and two fish.
None of the Lord's disciples yet knew that the Lord would become the bread of life.
But this woman immediately understood when the Lord said bread.
And then she said, "Even if I am a gentile like a dog, don't I eat the crumbs that fall from the master's table?" Finally, the Lord said that this woman's faith was megaton-level.
It is neither persistent courtship nor humility that lies flat like a dog.
She has found the Lord, the bread of life that God has sent to us for eternal life.
Because those who have died and been resurrected and united with the Lord through the grace of the atonement of Christ's cross, eat and drink the Lord.
Those who believe in Jesus and believe in forgiveness of sins or hallelujah, Jesus is risen, in front of the cross, will not know the secret process of David's God becoming their God.
In the Book of Revelation, which is called the vote-counting situation of salvation, the person who eats the scroll (Revelation 10:9-10) becomes the two witnesses and measures the temple, the altar, and those worshiping therein with a rod-like reed (Revelation 11:1).
However, those in the temple court, that is, the court where the altar of burnt offering is, are told not to measure and to leave it alone.
This is because it is an area given to Gentiles. (Revelation 11:2)
So, I count only those who have learned the message of the cross of Christ and followed it into the place where sins are forgiven and the presence of the Holy Spirit is present. I do not count face or rank.
The temple courtyard is filled with natural light, but the inside of the sanctuary is lit by the light of the golden lampstand, where people eat the bread on the table, burn incense, and prepare to enter the Holy of Holies.
Even now, those who believe in Jesus who have received forgiveness of sins in front of the cross and will go to heaven in the future have not yet entered the measuring line.
So, in the end, they live a life of faith that only serves our own stomach (Rom 16:18) and end up like the church of Laodicea.
By accepting Christ as Lord, receiving the illumination of the Holy Spirit, eating and drinking Christ, we drink the water of life just as water from a reservoir is supplied to each house through pipes, and we celebrate the flesh and blood of the Lord through the Word to make it real, so that we become one life with the Lord and advance towards the throne of God's grace with fragrant praise and worship.
If we have this kind of faith, the Lord will surely say that our faith is like dynamite and that it will be done as we wish.
Therefore, read Romans and the Gospel of John hundreds of times and let yourself be found in them.
It becomes spiritual and reaches glorious salvation.
Christians live by eating the Lord. (John 6:57)
If we become one bread with Christ , one spirit and one body, the Lord of Abraham and David becomes my Savior.
We will proudly participate in the parade of the forefathers of faith recorded in the Hall of Faith.
