『San Francisco Bay』는 1979년 발매된 영국의

Rock 밴드「Smokie」6번째 앨범에 수록된 곡으로

오스트리아, 노르웨이 차트 7위, 독일 차트 17위에 랭크

되었으며, 이 곡은 그들의 마지막 유럽 Top 10 진입 곡이

되었습니다.

1970년대 후반에서 1980년대 초반까지 우리에게

짧은 시간 동안 존재하면서 'ABBA', 'Boney M',

'Queen' 등과 함께 국내 에서 가장 큰 사랑을 받았던

그룹「Smokie」!

1970년대 중반부터 1980년대까지 "Living Next

Door To Alice", "Don't Play Rock'n Roll To Me",

"Mexican Girl", "What Can I Do?", "I'll Meet

You At Midnight"등으로 라디오 채널을 도배하다시피

했으며, 이들의 Best 음반은 지금 까지도 꾸준히 팔리는

Steady Seller 반열에 올랐습니다.

우리나라에서는 'Beatles'를 능가하는 인기를 누렸던

그룹 「Smokie」는 리드 보컬인 'Chris Norman'의

허스키하고, 호소력 넘치는 목소리와 이를 정교(精巧)

하게 받치는 모든 멤버의 완벽한 백 보컬 하모니로

우리나라 Pop 역사상에 LP판으로 최초 100만 장 이상의

판매 고를 올린 그룹이면서 Old Pop 팬들에게 지금까지

어쩌면 Legend 그룹으로 남아 있다 하겠습니다
