Bible Reading - Esther 1:1~11

1:1 This is what happened during the time of Xerxes, the Xerxes who ruled over 127 provinces stretching from India to Cush:

이는 인도에서 쿠시까지 127개 속주(지방)를 통치했던 크세르크세스(아하수에로)의 시대에 일어난 일이다.

1:2 At that time King Xerxes reigned from his royal throne in the citadel(성) of Susa,

그 당시 크세르크세스 왕은 수사 성에 있는 그의 왕좌에서 군림하고 있었고

1:3 and in the third year of his reign he gave a banquet for all his nobles and officials.

그리고 그의 치세 3년에 그는 그의 모든 귀족들과 관원들을 위해 연회를 열었다.

The military leaders of Persia and Media, the princes, and the nobles of the provinces were present. 페르시아와 메데의 군대 지휘관들과 왕자들과 지방의 귀족들이 참석했다.

1:4 For a full 180 days 180일 동안

he displayed the vast wealth of his kingdom and the splendor and glory of his majesty.

그는 자신의 왕국의 막대한 부와 그의 위엄의 화려함과 영광을 과시했다.

1:5 When these days were over, 이 날들이 끝났을 때

the king gave a banquet, lasting seven days, in the enclosed garden of the king's palace,

for all the people from the least to the greatest, who were in the citadel of Susa.

수산궁의 성채에 있었던 작은 자에서부터 큰 자들까지 모든 백성들을 위해

1:6 The garden had hangings of white and blue linen, fastened with cords of white linen and purple material to silver rings on marble pillars.

정원에는 흰색과 파란색 린넨으로 만든 천막이 걸려 있었고, 흰색 린넨과 보라색 천으로 만든 끈으로 대리석 기둥의 은색 고리에 고정되어 있었다.

There were couches of gold and silver on a mosaic pavement of porphyry(반암), marble, mother-of-pearl(진주조개) and other costly stones.

반암, 대리석, 진주조개와 다른 값비싼 돌로 된 모자이크 포장도로 위에 금과 은으로 된 소파들이 놓여 있었다.

1:7 Wine was served in goblets of gold, each one different from the other, 

와인은 금잔에 담겨 제공되었는데, 각 잔은 서로 달랐으며

and the royal wine was abundant, in keeping with the king's liberality(관대함).

그리고 왕의 관대함에 걸맞게 왕의 와인도 풍부했다.

1:8 By the king's command each guest was allowed to drink in his own way, 

왕의 명령에 따라 각 손님은 자기 방식대로 술을 마실 수 있었다.

for the king instructed all the wine stewards to serve each man what he wished.

왕은 모든 술 관리인에게 각 사람이 원하는 것을 제공하라고 지시했다.

1:9 Queen Vashti also gave a banquet for the women in the royal palace of King Xerxes.

와스디 왕비도 크세르크세스 왕의 왕궁에서 여인들을 위해 연회를 베풀었다.

1:10 On the seventh day, 일곱번째 날에 

when King Xerxes was in high spirits(기분이 좋아져) from wine,

크세르크세스 왕이 술에 취해 기분이 좋아졌을 때,

he commanded the seven eunuchs who served him--Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar and Carcas--

그는 그를 섬기는 일곱명의 내시들, 즉 므후만, 비즈따, 하르보나, 비그따, 아박따, 제따르, 카르카스에게 명령했다.

1:11 to bring before him Queen Vashti, wearing her royal crown, in order to display her beauty to the people and nobles,

왕비 와스디를 왕관을 쓰고 그 앞으로 데려와 백성과 귀족들에게 그녀의 아름다움을 보여주게 하려고

for she was lovely to look at.그녀는 보기에 사랑스러웠기 때문이다.
