Welcome! McAleese, a thirsty girl for a man with a gentle voice.
I am pleased to
have you in my Monday Euphony Presentation Class. In your Moojuk history, not a
day goes by without delivering presentations on the stage, not a week goes by
without being on the stage, especially in my class. All your blood and sweat
for having your English skill improved soon pay off. And this will become a
driving force to get ahead in your lifetime in not only Moojuk, but also in
your department.
Ahead of
beginning my comments, I would like to explain the purpose of this class. It
was expressly designed for checking each person’s presentation
manner on the stage. On Mondays, presenters would convey what they had
memorized during a week. Keeping gestures, pronunciation, stress and chunk
between words in check comes to a quantum leap of your English Presentation
Skill. Let me allow check out these matters.
<Pronunciation>
Please imitate each word by listening to voice records on the
following site.
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary
From this momentum on, I am going to
explain how to pronounce each word, more than how to make each alphabet sound
correctly.
And your problematic pronunciations
were caused by a rapid presentation speed. Try to pronounce clearly each word advised
by me!
[B]rightly
Whenever you pronounce ‘B’, make it sure that
you should build up pressure in your mouth by trying to exhale, keeping your
lips together. After that you need an
explosive action to exhale and voice ‘B’ sound explosively.
[V]anish
I do not know the reason why your ‘V’ sound
is unnoticeable. Let us check on it in upcoming classes. For pronouncing
Alphabet ‘V’, your jaw is in need of opening nearly closed. The upper side of your
bottom lip is pressed a bit strong by the bottom of the top teeth. And then you
need to push air out of your mouth between the top teeth and your lips bitten
by the top teeth, voicing ‘v’.
Fo[r]ward, Retu[r]n
Above pronouncing
two words should contain ‘R’ sound in the middle of it.
<Long Vowel Sound & Stress>
From now on,
rather than showing each phonetic alphabet, I will let you know stress and long
vowel sound on words with simple method.
Red colored character = It is the alphabet you ought to put stress on.
Underlined
character = It is the
alphabet you must voice long vowel sound.
Good
enough! Nothing to point out!
<Ending Sound>
How long time have you practiced this story? Excellent!
<Intonation>
Good enough. I
think because you are majoring in Vietnamese, your sense of making intonation
measured up to the story was outstanding. ^-^/
<Manner>
Unlike
your strong presence on the stage, you were unbelievably cute.
I was happy with
that. Kkkkkkkk!! Though you wore lovely smile, however, having obstacles to
give glances to audiences can be trouble for your future study. That is what I
want you to try to change on upcoming stages.
<Mission>
Our ultimate goal of last week was wearing a smile on
your face with your near-perfect presentation. With your proper speed
management, you were serious enough to make us feel you were delivering weird and
strange story. There were no words left to speak. Good Job, 혜진. I like your pitch and clear voice. But to cultivate your own strengths,
clear pronunciations also should follow. Though I pointed out this matter in
the class, now that I reflect on it, it will be automatically solved as time
goes by. Please attend next week Euphony Class either. That is the homework
given to you.
I have been happy
to be with you all the time, and thanks to you my days have developed very
well. Watching your improvement in your presentation, I have been gratified.
While joking with you, I was satisfied with the fact that we built ourselves
friendship. Even though I have been amused and delighted by your presence in my
class, a wave of indescribably sorrowful emotions are surging onwards. This is
because two months of my assistant’s life is now drawing to an end.
While I was
thinking of what would be the best quote for my farewell greetings, I found the
words which took to my heart.
It is Dalai
Lama’s quote;
Old
friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day
passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful. A
meaningful friend or a meaningful day!
My classmate! My
days are now passing away to an end. It means the days with new assistant will
appear. Though my days passed, you will spend many days meaningfully and
academically with the better person. .
Therefore I
decided not to feel sad and to not be filed with sorrow. On Mondays, what better way was
there to develop your day with a good command of English than to attend Euphony
Classes, especially Monday Euphony class?
Make your day
meaningful, develop your day with Euphony class, and do not forget to get
involved in weekly presentation contest in Monday Euphony Class. Thank you always.
