(옵1:1-9)
1 The vision of Obadiah. This is what the Sovereign LORD says about Edom--We have heard a message from the LORD: An envoy was sent to the nations to say, "Rise, and let us go against her for battle"--  2 "See, I will make you small among the nations; you will be utterly despised.  3 The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks and make your home on the heights, you who say to yourself, 'Who can bring me down to the ground?'  4 Though you soar like the eagle and make your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down," declares the LORD.  5 "If thieves came to you, if robbers in the night--Oh, what a disaster awaits you--would they not steal only as much as they wanted? If grape pickers came to you, would they not leave a few grapes?  6 But how Esau will be ransacked, his hidden treasures pillaged!  7 All your allies will force you to the border; your friends will deceive and overpower you; those who eat your bread will set a trap for you, but you will not detect it.  8 "In that day," declares the LORD, "will I not destroy the wise men of Edom, men of understanding in the mountains of Esau?  9 Your warriors, O Teman, will be terrified, and everyone in Esau's mountains will be cut down in the slaughter.

'여호와의 종' 또는 '여호와를 경배하는 자'라는 이름의 뜻을 지닌 자
오바댜 선지자의 활동은 이루어졌는데
그의 사역은 에돔에 집중 되었음을 보게 된다

왜 에돔일까?
에돔은 왜 하나님의 심판 대상이 된 것일까?
그에 대한 오바댜 선지자의 보고는
① 형제 국가가 가장 비참하게 무너지는 순간에 교만하게 이를 비웃고, ② 약탈에 동참 ③ 도망치는 난민들을 붙잡아 원수에게 넘겨준 '인도주의적·혈연적 배신'이라
오바댜는 보고하고 있다

결국
B.C. 553년경... 바벨론의 나보니두스 왕이 에돔을 침공... 에돔과 친하게 지내던 아랍계 유목 민족인 나바테아인들이 바벨론 편에 서서 에돔을 배신하고 그들의 영토를 잠식하기 시작
B.C. 4세기~B.C. 2세기...나바테아인들에게 밀려난 에돔인들은 고향 땅(페트라 인근의 견고한 암벽 지대)을 완전히 빼앗겼고, 원래 유다 땅이었던 남부 유대 지역(헤브론 인근)으로 쫓겨나 '이두매(Idumea)'라 불리는 지역에 거주
B.C. 134년경 ...마카비 혁명 이후 유대의 독립 왕조였던 하스몬 왕가의 요한 힐카누스 1세가 이두매(에돔)를 정복... 에돔인들은 살아남기 위해 할례를 받고 유대교로 강제 개종당하며 민족적 정체성을 크게 상실(喪失)
A.D. 70년... 로마 제국의 티투스 장군이 예루살렘을 함락할 때 에돔인들은 유대인들과 함께 로마에 대항해 싸우다 대규모로 학살... 에돔이라는 민족은 역사적 기록에서 완전히 자취를 감추며 영원히 소멸(消滅) 되었다는 역사적 보고(報告)

오늘의 말씀을 통해 정리(整理)되는 것은
하나님의 공의심판섭리불가항력(公義審判攝理不可抗力)
당장에 하나님은 그때그때 심판 하시지 않지만
세월 속 하나님의 적당하다 싶은 그때 반드시 그 값을 치루게 하시는 섭리(攝理)를
역사(歷史)는 증거(證據)하고 있음을 오늘도 확인한다

이러한 사실을 모르고
안하무인(眼下無人)
하나님을 부정하고 아직도 불신(不信) 혹은 안티(anti)의 입장을 고수하고 있는 주변인(周邊人)들을 생각하면
안타까움과 중보기도가 저절로 나온다

오늘도 주님께 구하는 것은
내 목양의 현지 사방 4Km내에 있는 인생들에게
하나님의 은혜은총긍휼자비복(恩惠恩寵矜恤慈悲福)으로 인한 성령의 강력한 역사속에
구원의 역사가 강하게 일어나는 그것이다

하여 
오 주여
성령이여
역사하여 주옵소서...!!!
