I can still remember what it was like to take our family on vacation,

only to have the kids in the backseat mar the joy of it

all by their bickering and complaining.

Who doesn’t remember the disruptive effects of “Dad, she touched me!”

or “Mom, he won’t give me a turn!”
 

나는 가족 여행 때 뒷자석의 아이들이 말다툼하고 불평을 하는 바람에

망쳐버린 그 여행의 꼴이 어떠했는지를 아직도 기억하고 있습니다.

 “아빠, 얘가 나를 건드려요!” 혹은 “엄마, 쟤가 혼자만 갖고 놀아요!”

같은 말들이 가져오는 파괴적인 효과를 누군들 기억 못하겠습니까!

If you’ve had that kind of experience,

you can imagine how God feels when His children quarrel and complain.

Getting along is important to God. Jesus prayed that we would “be one”

so that the world would believe He came from the Father (John 17:20-21).

And to disciples who were prone to quarreling,

 He commanded that they love and serve one another (13:34-35; Matt. 20:20-28).

It should also be noted that among the seven things God hates,

He includes “one who sows discord among brethren” (Prov. 6:19).

이런 경험을 해 본 사람이라면 하나님께서 그분의 자녀들이 싸우고 불평할 때

 어떻게 느끼실 지를 상상할 수 있을 것입니다.

함께 잘 지낸다는 것은 하나님께 중요합니다.

예수님은 우리가 “하나”가 됨으로써 하나님 아버지가 주님을 보내신 것을

세상이 믿을 수 있게 해 달라고 기도하셨습니다(요 17:20-21).

그리고 자주 다투었던 제자들에게 주님은 서로 사랑하고 섬기라고 명령하셨습니다(13:34-35; 마 20:20-28).

하나님이 미워하시는 일곱 가지 중에는 “형제 사이를 이간하는 자”(잠 6:19)가

포함되어 있다는 것 또한 아셔야 합니다.

So I’m not surprised that the psalmist tells us that when brothers dwell in unity, i

t’s like “the precious oil upon the head, running down on . . . the beard of Aaron,

running down on the edge of his garments” (Ps. 133:1-2).

In ancient times, the oil of anointing was full of fragrant spices

that graced the environment wherever the anointed one went.

May the unity that comes from our love and

service to one another fragrantly grace our families, churches, and friendships.

형제가 연합하여 함께 하는 것은 마치

 “머리에 있는 보배로운 기름이 수염 곧 아론의 수염에 흘러서 그 옷깃까지 내림 같다”(시 133:1-2)

라는 시편기자의 말이 내게는 그리 놀랍지 않습니다.

오랜 옛날에는 기름부음을 받은 자가 가는 곳이면 어디나 향기가 가득한 향유로 인해 주위를 은혜롭게 하였습니다.

서로 향기롭게 사랑하며 섬기는 가운데 오는 화합이 우리의 가족과 교회,

그리고 우정 관계를 은혜롭게 하여주소서.

Psalm 133  

[시] 133:1	A song of ascents. Of David. How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!
[시] 133:2	It is like precious oil poured on the head, r unning down on the beard, running down on Aaron's beard, down upon the collar of his robes.
[시] 133:3	It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.

[시] 133:1	보라 형제가 연합하여 동거함이 어찌 그리 선하고 아름다운고
[시] 133:2	머리에 있는 보배로운 기름이 수염 곧 아론의 수염에 흘러서 그의 옷깃까지 내림 같고
[시] 133:3	헐몬의 이슬이 시온의 산들에 내림 같도다 거기서 여호와께서 복을 명령하셨나니 곧 영생이로다

사랑과 친절이 우리의 삶을 지배하고 우리가 하나인 것으로 보이면 그 화합의 향기는 따로 비교할 만한 것이 없다 서로 잘 지내는 그리스도인은 예수님의 감미로운 향기를 전파한다.
