426_July 5th_Flooding in China

Heavy flooding in central and southern China has killed at least 9 people and displaced 10,000.

State media says eight people are missing in the worst-hit provinces of Henan, Hubei, and Guizhou.

Rivers have overtopped dikes and poured in city streets, housing complexes, shopping malls.

Rapid urban development appears to have worsten problems.

And the Communist Party and authorities who control all the media have been especially reticent in their new release about the toll floods have taken. 

Although China experinces flooding each summer, the images are some of the most dramatic in year, and many of then have spread on social media to avoid official sensors.
