A police manhunt will continue in Melbourne today, after a young woman was found stabbed to death at a reserve in the city's east yesterday evening.
Authorities were called to the Stanton Street reserve in Doncaster at 7pm, where a man found the woman in cardiac arrest with stab wounds to her upper body.
It is understood she lived in the area and may have been a teenager, although authorities are yet to confirm the victim's age.
Police used dogs to search the area for her attacker last night, but heavy rain hampered their efforts.
"The female has yet to be formally identified and investigators are piecing together the circumstances surrounding the death," police said in a statement.
Ambulance Victoria spokesman Paul Bentley said paramedics were unable to save the woman, after her body was discovered in broad daylight.

"The woman was in cardiac arrest when paramedics arrived. They tried to revive her but unfortunately she died at the scene," Mr Bentley said.
Homicide detectives have returned to examine this scene this morning, in the hopes of finding clues about the victim's attacker.
