<div>십여년 전 파주에 LG그룹이 LCD 단지에 투자할 때</div><div>파주가 수도권이라는 이유로 </div><div>천신만고 끝에 정부로부터 투자허가를 받았고 </div><div> </div><div>각종 매스콤에서는 수도권투자를 허가한 정부의 용단을</div><div>입이 마르도록 칭찬하면서 장차 수많은 일자리를 창출해 </div><div>한국경제에 크게 이바지할 거라는 장미빛 전망을 내놓았지.</div><div> </div><div>About a decade ago, LG Group got governmental approval </div><div>of its investment in LCD Project in Paju with a great struggle</div><div>due to the fact that Paju was a part of the metropolitan area, </div><div>after which all news media praised the government's brave </div><div>decision nonstop coming up with rosy prospects that it would</div><div>greatly contribute to Korean economy by creating many jobs. </div><div> </div><div>그런데 오늘뉴스를 보니 LG 디스플레이가 </div><div>중국의 덤핑공세를 견디지 못해 12분기 연속적자를 보고 있어</div><div>돌파구를 찾고자 인건비가 과도한 한국 대신 중국에다</div><div>OLED 공장을 지었으나 적기에 투자한 게 아니라서 </div><div>재미를 보지 못하고 결국 구조조정을 피할 길 없어</div><div>작년에 3,000명, 올해 5,000명을 감원했지만 </div><div>회사전망이 불투명하기는 역시 마찬가지라니</div><div>그토록 막대한 투자를 한 거대 프로젝트라도  </div><div>중국의 황사바람이 불면 추풍낙엽이 되는구나.</div><div> </div><div>However, according to today's news, </div><div>LG Display has been losing money for 12 quarters in a row</div><div>due to Chinese offensive dumping, which made the company</div><div>try to break through in the losing streak by investing in OLED project</div><div>in China considering exorbitant labor cost in Korea, which, however,</div><div>turned out an inopportune investment faling to generate profit; so,</div><div>it could not avoid restructuring the company and laid off 3,000</div><div>employees last year and 5,000 again this year, its vision sitll unclear. </div><div>Chinese yellow sandstorm seems to blow away whatever big project </div><div>like an autumn leaf, once it starts blowing.</div><div>  </div><div>하기야 내가 삼십년간 종사하던 산업용전구 사업도 </div><div>이미 십오년 전에 중국황사바람에 날라갔거늘</div><div>LCD 인들 OLED 인들 그 바람을 견뎌내겠는가</div><div> </div><div>Indeed, Chinese yellow sandstorm already blew away the industrial </div><div>lamp business 15 years ago I had been occupied in for thirty years.</div><div>How can I expect either LCD or OLED to survive the storm?</div><div> </div><div>이처럼 우리나라가 수출해서 먹고사는 산업을 </div><div>큰 것 작은 것 가리지 않고 모조리 뺏어가는 중국에게</div><div>마지막까지 뺏기지 않고 지킬 수 있는 산업은 무엇인가?</div><div> </div><div>China takes all large or small industries from us </div><div>who live on export. What industry can we keep until last?</div><div> </div><div>기존산업을 중국보다 더 경쟁력있게 키우던가 아니면 </div><div>중국이 아직 손대지 않은 분야를 특화해가는 것 외에는 </div><div>다른 방법은 없겠지.</div><div> </div><div>There would be no other way than we either increase</div><div>competitiveness of existing industry or specialize in </div><div>the area China has not yet entered.</div><div> </div><div>될성부른 기업을 적극 키워 국가대표기업을 만들어</div><div>다른 나라기업들을 압도할 수 있게 해야겠지.</div><div> </div><div>We'll have to grow promising company into a national-class </div><div>that can overpower other nation's companies.</div><div> </div><div>다른 나라 기업들보다 더 열심히 일하는 근로정신을 </div><div>길러야겠지.  </div><div> </div><div>We'll have to foster working spirit </div><div>greater than other nation's companies.</div><div> </div><div>3년 정도 앞선 반도체 만큼은 LCD처럼 중국에 </div><div>따라잡히지 말아야겠지.</div><div> </div><div>At least in semiconductor we are about 3 years ahead,</div><div>we won't let China catch up with us as we did in LCD.<div><div> </div>중국이 막강한 하드웨어분야보다 소프트웨어 분야에서 </div></div><div>두각을 나타내야겠지.</div><div> </div><div>We'll have to distinguish ourselves in softwares</div><div>rather than hardwares China is powerful at.</div><div> </div><div>그리고 국민각자가 스스로의 능력을 향상시켜 </div><div>중국인들보다 생산성이 더 높아지도록 노력해야겠지.</div><div> </div><div>And we'll have to increase the ability of each of us</div><div>so that we can have higher productivity than Aristocrats in the leadership, blinded by their greed for power,say that black is white, their privilege was the chance equal to all,their unfairness was fairness and their injustice was justice;if people point out their wrongs, they say people misunderstand them;if people demand justice be done, they come up with the sophistrythat whatever way they choose is just. 이러다가는 얼마 안 가 진실을 거짓이라 하고 거짓을 진실이라고 우기겠네 그들 귀족들은 아무런 잘못을 저질러도 괜찮고일반 백성이나 그들을 반대하는 사람들은사소한 잘못을 저질러도 엄중한 법의 심판을 받아야한다고 주장하네. Let them have their way and they will soon insist that truth is untruth and untruth is truth. They get away with all wrongs they commitbut assert that commoners and the oppositionshould be severely punished by lawfor their slightest wrong they commit. 국민혈세와 국가부채를 동원해 퍼주기 선심정책을 계속하면  한번 잡은 권력을 영원히 누릴 수 있음을 잘 알고있는 그들이기에 손바닥으로 하늘을 가릴 수 있다고 믿고평등과 공정과 정의를 요구하는 백성들의 요구를 배짱있게 무시해버리네. They know very well they can forever stay in powerby maintaining their freewheeling pork-barrel policywith national debt and taxpayers' money;so, they gutsily ignore people's demand for equaltiy, fariness and justice, believing they can cover the sky with their hands. 지배층이 이런 식으로 나가면 국가의 근본이 무너지고 국가의 근본이 무너지면 국가존립이 위태로워지는데도이런 것에는 티끌만치 관심도 없이오직 권력유지에만 눈이 먼 신흥 귀족들은 그들의 최고지도자를 향해용비어천가만 소리높혀 불러대네. If the ruling class behaves like this,the foundation of a country crumbles downand existence of it is threatened, about which, however,the new aristocrats engaged in maitaining political power,don't care a bit, just singing praise of their supreme leader. 그들에게는 국익보다 그들의 사익과 그들이 속한 패거리의 이익이 더 중요하기 때문에백성들의 원성에는 귀를 막고반대파를 제거하는 당파싸움에만 골몰하네. 역사는 앞으로 전진해야만 하거늘 아, 슬프다, 한반도에서는 역사가 뒷걸음질 치고있네. For them, their personal interest and their clique's interestcome before national interest; so they engross themselvesjust in factional strife to get rid of the opposition, turning deaf ear to people's complaints. Alas, history should advance forwardbut in Korean peninsula, it is stepping backward.  9. 사회주의 실험 <div>국가지도자는 국민을 분열시키지 말고</div><div>통합해야한다.</div><div> </div><div>A national leader should not divide </div><div>but unite his people.</div><div> </div><div></div><div>역사상 모든 위대한 자도자는 </div><div>예외없이 국민을 분열시키지 않고 </div><div>하나로 통합했다.</div><div> </div><div>Without a single exception,</div><div>all great historical leaders united people into one</div><div>without dividing them.</div><div> </div><div>그들은 국민을 하나로 통합함으로써 </div><div>불가능을 가능으로 바꾸었고</div><div>가능을 기적으로 바꾸었다.</div><div> </div><div>They changed impossible to possible,</div><div>possible to miracle by uniting people into one.</div><div> </div><div>알랙산더 대왕, 줄리어스씨저, 처칠수상, </div><div>세종대왕, 이순신장군 등 동서고금을 막론하고</div><div>사람들을 하나로 통합하는데 성공한 위인들은 </div><div>역사적인 업적을 이룰 수 있었다.</div><div> </div><div>Across the ages and in all countries of the world,</div><div>great leaders like Alexander the Great, Julias Caesar,</div><div>Prime Minister Churchill, Sejong the Great, General</div><div>Sunshin Lee succeeded in uniting people into one</div><div>and accomplished a remarkable feat.</div><div> </div><div>그러나 나라를 멸망케한 장본인들을 보라.</div><div>하나같이 국민을 분열시키고  </div><div>극민이 서로간에 원수처럼 싸우게 해</div><div>국력을 낭비시킨 사람들이다.</div><div> </div><div>However, look at the culprits responsible for the fall of their country.</div><div>They all divided people, pitting them against each other as enemies</div><div>to waste the national power.</div><div> </div><div>문신과 무신의 갈등을 조장했던 고려의 의종,</div><div>수구파와 개혁파의 싸움을 묵과했던 이씨조선의 고종,</div><div>이스라엘을 둘로 분열시켰던 솔로몬의 아들 르하부암 등,</div><div>동서를 막론하고 분열을 묵과하거나 조장했던 지도자들은</div><div>국가멸망의 원흉으로 후세의 지탄을 받고있다.</div><div> </div><div>Throughout the world, the leaders, who condoned or fostered</div><div>the division of people like King Eujong of Koryo Dynasty </div><div>who fostered the conflict between scholorly subjects</div><div>and military subjects, King Gojong of Yi Dynasty who condoned </div><div>the fight between the extreme conservatives and reformists, </div><div>King Reuabeuam, the son of King Solomon, who splitted </div><div>his country in two, are denounced by posterity as the culprits</div><div>responsible for the fall of their nation.</div><div> </div><div>현재 우리나라에서는 칠십년동안 우리에게 경제적번영을 </div><div>가져다준 자본주의 자유시장경제체제를 사회주의로 바꾸려는</div><div>부단한 노력으로 국론을 분열시키는 사람들을 지도층으로 두고있다.</div><div> </div><div>At the moment, we have leaders who make constant efforts</div><div>to change the free-market capitalism that brought us economic </div><div>prosperity for 70 years to socialism, hence division of public opinion.</div><div> </div><div>사회주의를 추구한 결과가 장기적으로 국리민복에 </div><div>도움을 준 사례가 역사상 한번만이라도 있었다면 </div><div>시회주의추구를 한번쯤 용인해보겠지만 </div><div>무수한 나라들이 사회주의를 추구한 결과 </div><div>지옥을 본 사람만이천국의 의미를 안다 바닥을 본 사람만이상승의 기쁨을 안다 시련의 골짜기를  오래 걸어본 사람만이  가파른 언덕길을힘들게 오른 사람만이  시원하고 향기로운 숲과정상정복의 기쁨을 안다 이처럼 우리 인생에서어둠과 부정적인 것들은 광명과 긍정적인 것들을 더욱 빛나게 해주고 있다. 그러니 어둠속을 걸을 때도부정적인 일들을 당하여도편한 마음으로 힘차게 걷자 그들은 우리 인생의 전체적인그림을 완성하는데 필수적 요소 우리 인생을 아름답게 만들고 빛나도록 해주는데 기여한다  아름다운 여인의 사랑을 얻으려면힘든 구애의 과정을 거쳐야 하고  위대한 예술작품을 완성하려면 무수한 불면의 밤을 보내야하듯  그들은 우리 삶을 한개 예술품으로완성시키는데 중요한 역할을 한다  Only he who has seen hellknows the meaning of heaven. Only he who has seen bottomknows the pleasure of rise. Only he who has walked the valley of ordeal for long, and only he who has a hard timeclimbing a steep hill, appreciates the cool fragrant forestand the joy of conquering a summit. Thus in our lives,darkness and negative things complement light and positive things. So, let's walk briskly with peace of mindeven when we walk in darknessand encounter negative things. They are the vital elements of the picture we call 'life',which contribute to makingour lives beautiful and shiny. As you must cup of wine tonight?  12. 노력 예찬 <div>태산 같은 파도도도저히 넘기 어려운 위기도 끝까지 싸워 이기려는 의지와얼음장처럼 곧고 차가운 이성과봄바람 같이 부드러운 심성과사자와 같은 용기로 대처하면 비록 시간이 걸릴지언정종내는 언제 그랬냐는 듯타고 넘고 극복할 수 있나니, 그대 앞에 두려운 것이 무엇이 있으랴! 그대 눈앞에 거친 불모의 광야가무한대로 펼쳐져 있는 듯 하여도그대 마음 먹기에 따라서는푸른 초원으로 바뀔 수 있나니붙잡지 못할 것은 청춘과 세월일뿐, 그대 노력으로 붙잡을 수 없는 것은이 세상에 존재하지 않으니우리의 유한한 삶에서아침에 떠오르는 태양과 함께 쉼없이 밀려오는 우리의 새로운 날들은 풍어를 몰고오는 밀물과 다를 게 무엇이랴   Be it a mountainous wave 흘러간 물을 되돌릴 수 없듯 한번 일어난 일은 다시는 되돌릴 수 없다. 사람의 잘잘못은 세월 따라 사라지지 않고사람의 여생동안 두고두고 영향을 미친다. 과거에 잘 한 것에 대해서는 겸손해야하며과거에 잘못 한 것으로부터서는 교훈을 얻어앞으로 잘 해야만 의미있는 삶이라 할 것이다. 세상을 원망하고 삶을 비관하고 좌절하는 것은의미있는 삶을 살고자하는 사람의 태도가 아니다.의미있는 삶을 살려면 사막 한가운데서도푸른 초원을 보아야하고 지옥 유황불속에서도천국에 오르는 사다리를 보아야한다. 살다가 취하고 싶으면 한 잔 술에 취하지 말고사랑받을 이유를 가진 사람들에게 숨이 멎는 날까지 헌신하는 사랑에 취해야한다. called Temujin </div><div>later called Jingisukan, who united many warrng tribes into one strong </div><div>entity conquering other nations.</div><div> </div><div>Sejong the Great also united his warring subjects into one entity</div><div>working for people with his wisdom and insight.</div><div> </div><div>General Sunshin Lee also united people and his soldiers and won</div><div>the battle in which the odds were heavily against him.</div><div> </div><div>A leader who unites people is a great leader and a leader who divides </div><div>people is a bad leader, in which sense our incumbent president cannot </div><div>be called a great leader because he constantly divides Koreans seized</div><div>by his anachronistic leftist socialistic ideologoy ignoring the fact that</div><div>Koreans have enjoyed economic prosperity greater than any other </div><div>country in the world thanks to the capitalistic free market economy. </div><div> </div><div>He does not appreciate the contribition of Mr. Seung-man Lee, the </div><div>founding president nor President Chung-hee Park who made Korea </div><div>what it is today.</div><div> </div><div>President Park's feat was undeniably great when he is compared with</div><div>President Marcos of Philippines who devasted his country economically.</div><div> </div><div>Our imcumbent president idolizes Mr. Young-bok Shin who served 25</div><div>years' sentence for his crime of plotting a violent socialistic revolution.</div><div> </div><div>What will become of Korea now that an extreme leftist president wields</div><div>his omnipotent presidential power?</div><div> </div><div>Rich people living in the opulent part of Seoul are now exiting Korea </div><div>and even big businesses, finding it impossible to continue to do business </div><div>in Korea are moving to other countries.</div><div> </div><div>He is now happy driving Korea to socialism that he has been dreaming of</div><div>since his youth while many Koreans are unhappy about the drastic change</div><div>he brings to Korean politics. </div><div> </div><div>He mobilizes around him his sympathizers like Mr. Kuk Cho to push ahead </div><div>with socialistic reform by appointing him to law minister despite his endless </div><div>record of having trampled ehtics, morality and even the rules of behavior </div><div>generally accepted in Korean society, let alone the fact that he had served </div><div>6 months in jail for his crime of plotting violent socialistic revolution in 1995.<div><div> </div><div>We Koreans must unite to stand up against his long-cherished dream of</div><div>bringing the country to socialism and depriving us of the capitalistic free</div><div>market economy that has materialized today's Korean economic prosperity.</div><div> </div><div>When he first showed up as the strongest candidate for president in 2017,</div><div>I was shocked at the magnitude of his popularity and wondered what had </div><div>made so many Korens take a left turn in their political stance despite the</div><div>fact that they must have seen the miserable results of enforcing leftist</div><div>economic policy in countries like Greece, Argentina and Venezuela.</div><div> </div><div>Even before his inauguration, I thought that his new economic policy called</div><div>'income-led growth policy', so much slanted to socialism, would bring disaster</div><div>to Korean economy, which has been in fact proven undermining the viability of </div><div>Korean economy for 2 years since his coming to power.</div><div> </div><div>The problem is that he sticks to his leftist policy despite so many negative </div><div>effects on Korean economy without the slightest attempt at revising it that</div><div>there is no hope of reviving the economy.</div><div> </div><div>The only possible way is regime change through election but it won't be easy</div><div>either because majority of Koreans still support him falling for his freewheeling</div><div>pork-barrel policy with their eyes closed to the destructive and harmful effects</div><div>of his leftist economic policy.</div><div>
