코로나19 피해자에 대한 호소

배경:
코로나19의 첫 사례가 한국에서 1월 20일에 발견되었습니다.
이후  질병이 확산되면서 현재 감염자 수가 중국에 이어 두 번째입니다. 지금까지 71개국이 한국에서 입국하는 사람들에게 이동 제한을 두고 있습니다.
글 작성일(2020-03-03)을 기준으로 한국에서 총 4,212건의 코로나19 확진자가 발생하였습니다. 이 중 87%가 대구시에 집중돼 있는 데, 대구는 인구250만 명의 네 번째로 큰 도시입니다. 따라서 우리의 구호 노력을 이 곳에 집중하고 있습니다. 현재 공급부족인 마스크를 얻기 위해 길게 줄을 서고 있는 상태입니다.

대상 그룹:
정교한 방호복과 적절한 코로나19 환자 대처법을 갖춘 전문 의료인력만이 환자와 희생자들에게 봉사할 수 있습니다.

그래서 우리의 목표는 일용직 노동자와 가족의 부재로 취약한 상태인 이주 노동자들입니다. 우리는 한 활동당 100명의 노동자를 도울수 있는 17개의 구호 활동을 통해 총 1700명에게 혜택이 돌아가는 구호활동을 계획하고 있습니다.

방법:
우리 구호대원이 대구 지역 주민 6명의 도움을 받아 일주일에 두 번 만납니다. 이들은 다음과 같이 구성된 100개의 식품 꾸러미를 준비합니다.
  생수 2리터
  라면 3봉지
  큰 흑미 떡 1개
  일회용 마스크 1개

이 식품 꾸러미를 지역 비정부기구로부터 받은 목록에 기초하여 100명의 일용직 노동자와 이주 노동자들에게 순환적으로 분배합니다.

고구마 200상자(가격 3780달러, 총 1000kg)의 첫 구호활동은 같은 채널을 이용해 대구 200가구에 배포됐습니다.

평가:
이 구호작업은 3월과 4월에 실시될 예정입니다. 코로나19 상황이 불안정하여서 4월 말에 평가가 이루어지며, 필요한 경우 상황에 따라 5월 등으로 구호활동이 연장됩니다.

우리는 코로나19의 중심 피해지역인 대구에서 1700명의 이주 노동자와 일용직 노동자들을 위한 17개의 구호 활동을 수행하기 위해 3, 4월 한 달 동안 1만 달러를 요청합니다.

Appeal for Coronavirus Victims

Background:

The first case of coronavirus was discovered in South Korea on January 20.

Since then the disease has spread and is now second to China in the number of infected persons. So far 71 countries have put travel restrictions on persons arriving from Korea.

As of the time of this writing (2020-03-03) there were a total of 4,212 cases of coronavirus in South Korea. Eighty-seven percent of those cases are concentrated in the city of Daegu in the southeast part of Korea. Daegu is the fourth largest city in South Korea with a population of 2.5 million residents. Hence our relief efforts have focused in that city. Currently there are long queues to obtain face masks which are in short supply.

Target Group:

Only professional medical personnel with very sophisticated uniforms and proper training in how to deal with coronavirus patients are allowed to serve the victims.

Our target is daily laborers and migrant workers who are a vulnerable group due to lack of family. We plan to do 17 relief operations serving 100 laborers per operation for a total of 1700 beneficiaries from our relief efforts.

Methods:

Our relief worker with assistance of six local residents in Daegu meet twice per week. They prepare 100 food packets consisting of:

2  litres of bottled water

3 packets of ramyeon noodles

1 large brown rice cake

1 disposable mask

This is distributed to 100 day laborers and migrant workers based on the list that she receives from a local NGO who handles the distribution to this group on a rotation basis.

Our first relief effort of 200 boxes of sweet potatoes (total of 1000 kg at value of $US3780) was distributed to 200 families of Daegu using the same channel.

Eval‎uation:

This relief operation is projected for the month of March and April. The coronavirus situation is unstable. So at the end of April an eval‎uation will be done and if necessary relief services will be extended to May and so on according to the need of the moment.

Summary

We are requesting $US10,000 for the month of March and April in order to perform 17 relief operations for 1,700 migrant laborers and day time workers in Daegu, the center of the epidemic in Korea.
