‘매디슨 카운티의 다리’는 잔잔한 음악과 에이츠의 시가 있는...감미로운 로맨스 영화의 스테레오 타입을 보여준다. 단선적인 사랑이 아니라 너와 나의 이야기를 떠올리게 하는 심적 갈등과 방황이 삽입된다. 아마도 그래서 더욱 깊은 연민과 애잔한 공감을 불어 일으킬 것이다.

메릴 스트립의 캐릭터 몰입 연기가 일품이지만 감독 겸 주연의 클린트 이스트우드의 대본지향적인 연기와 편집에까지 미칠 영향력이 호감을 주지 못할 수도 있다. 보는 사람의 감정이입을 막는 것은 영화를 찢어발길 마수가 이제나 저제나 설칠까 조마조마하기 때문일 수도 있다.

영화에 대한 떨떠름한 혹은 부정적인 견해에는 관중을 영화에 몰입하지 못하게하는 몰지각한 만행이 한몫을 할 것이다. ‘...흡연 등을 다룰 때는 신중을 기하여야 한다’는 시덥잖은 ‘규정’에 세인의 사랑을 받는 영화를...남의 영화를 까뭉개는 불쌍한 노예근성도 큰 몫을 할 것이다.

인간아 인간들아 남의 영화 까뭉개 먹고 사는 게 그렇게 좋더냐...내 이 다 떨어진 지까다비가 네 그 양심에 털 난 가슴에 푸욱 파고 들기 전에 꺼져라아...하고...아니 이수일도 김중배보다 지저분한 인간들 입에도 안 올리겠지?

'Bridges of Madison County' presents a stereotype of a sweet romance movie with soothing music and poetry by Ages. It is not a one-line love, but a psychological conflict and wandering that reminds you of the story of you and me. Perhaps that's why it inspires deeper compassion and sympathy.

Meryl Streep's character immersion performance is superb, but director and star Clint Eastwood's script-oriented acting and editing influence may not be appealing. Blocking the viewer's empathy may be because viewers are afraid that the devil surely rip the film apart.

Reckless and ignorant atrocities that prevent the audience from immersing themselves in the film, will play a part in the shaky or negative view of the film. ...a movie that is loved by the world is torn apart due to the bittersweet rule, that you must be careful when dealing with smoking...The poor servility that smudges other people's films will also play a big part.
