A clinical trial of the world's first pill-type coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccine in Israel is expected to begin, local media reported on the 23rd (local time).
According to media, Orabax Medical, a subsidiary of Oramed Pharmaceuticals, has developed India's Primas Biotech and pill-type coronavirus vaccine and asked the Ministry of Health to approve commercial clinical trials. The pharmaceutical company is a developer of oral drug delivery systems.
The pharmaceutical company explained that it was developed as a one-time pill-type vaccine, and that it was confirmed to be immune to coronavirus 19 through animal testing in March.
If the vaccine succeeds in human clinical trials, it will become the world's first coronavirus vaccine.
The pill vaccine is expected to be used actively because it is easy to store and distribute. It is expected that use will also expand in underdeveloped countries that lack distribution infrastructure and medical equipment such as cold chains.
The pharmaceutical company stressed that it is highly resistant to mutated viruses by inducing the immune system that attacks the three structural proteins of the new coronavirus (the proteins involved in maintaining the structure of cells or tissues). He added that he is testing resistance to various coronavirus, including delta variations, through pre-clinical research.
"The vaccine is much more resistant to the coronavirus," said Nadab Kidron, CEO of Oramed Pharmaceutical.
