1 Corinthians 14 (3)
A pastor preaches on YouTube every morning even though he is sick now.
After watching for a long time, I tells us to read John 14-16 thoroughly, and he tells that he has found peace and tells others to find peace, so I ask him to explain the principle of peace from God.
And he tells that be filled with the Holy Spirit every day, so I leave a comment asking him to explain the routine of how we can move to a place where the Holy Spirit comes.
That's because I feel very sorry that he is currently passing through the dark valley of death and is only quoting Pascal's story or Uchimura Kanjo's words.
If a church is served by a pastor of this caliber, I think the contemplative prayers would be more dynamic and the manifestation of gifts such as speaking in tongues would seem to be much more meaningful.
Verse 20 “Brothers, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be you children, but in understanding be men.”
The understanding here is not Sophia but Presyn.
This understanding is for the mature and is a condition for becoming an active Christian by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Therefore, we must not be children in understanding.
Do not labor and train yourself in carnal godliness. Rather, be children in such matters.
Verse 21 “In the law it is written, With man of other tongues and other lips will I speak to this people, and yet for all that will they not hear me, says the Lord.”
It cannot be done with just any voice.
Only God must work through that voice.
If the voice does not have the Spirit and life of the Lord, it will become noisy brass or a clanging cymbal.
The problem is that most people are like that.
Verse 22 “Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophecying serves not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.”
Tongues are for signs, but prophecy is for the ministry of the word.
However, if tongues are interpreted, they become like prophecy.
The problem is that no matter how good a gift is, it cannot save the dead with that gift.
Only the word of God, the word of prophecy that understands the mystery of Christ, can save people.
In verses 24-25, the benefit of prophecy is that it exposes the hidden things of the heart through rebuke and judgment, so that we worship God and acknowledge that God is with us.
Christ, the Word, comes and the Word is on our lips and in our hearts, so that we believe with our hearts and are justified, and with our mouths we confess and are saved (Romans 10:8-10)
Verses 26-35 state the nature of the gathering at that time.
There were all kinds of things.
Verse 32 “The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.”
The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets, which causes confusion and complexity.
As in verse 34, it is a mess, so it needs to be organized.
Then the clergy began to appear.
However, now, there seem to be more laymen who are wandering around and seeking the truth than pastors.
Pastors seem to be less spiritually troubled because they are busy with their work.
Preachers who preach according to their own opinions should be subject to sanctions.
Verses 34-35 divide all believers, that is, the clergy group, women, and their husbands.
Considering the level of the church at that time, this can be seen as an inevitable prescription.
Verse 36 “What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?”
In every age, there is controversy over the fact that I have received a gift.
So Paul asks, “Can you receive the word of God as you please?”
Verse 37 If there is anyone who thinks he is a prophet or a spiritual, he tells them to understand that the contents of this letter are the Lord’s command, that is, the Lord’s position.
Verse 38 “But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.”
If they do not know, it is because the Lord’s position is not yet known to them.
Therefore, what the Corinthian church must do is to make the word of God known.
The current state of the Korean church is the same.
People are mistaken in thinking that the gospel has been fully preached.
As always, the problem with the Korean church and the churches around the world is the gospel that is being preached.
Like the Corinthian church, most of the words are from infants who are in Christ but only drink milk.
Verse 39 “Wherefore, brothers, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.”
Prophecy is to make known the word of God.
That is why it says, do long for.
And he advises us not to forbid speaking with tongues, but to seek a higher plane.
For example, if one who has been found in the Trinity is speaking with tongues, he or she will be able to pray directly to God in spirit without following procedures, methods, or principles.
However, in order for the soul to follow my spirit, it must explain to itself the steps of starting out as a sinner, passing through the cross of Christ, becoming one with Christ in the Holy Spirit of truth, and going to God the Father.
And it must explain the procedure to others with words that are endowed with the power of the Lord’s spirit and life.
While such prophecy is important, speaking with tongues is also necessary to preserve personal secrets within oneself.
Verse 40 “Let all things be done decently and in order”
It exhorts us to keep decently and order.
Decently is moderation and dignity.
It is reasonable and has a scale (1 Thessalonians 4:12).
Order means to follow God’s order.
The word order in Hebrews 5 and 7 means sequential, that is, God’s order.
Even though Jesus Christ is the Son of God, he thoroughly performed his ministry according to God’s order.
It is still the same today.
Because of this, there are positions and organizations in the church.
If we go beyond this, problems arise, and if we suppress them with organizations, systems, and doctrines, there is a problem of individual function deteriorating.
Now, those who remain in the gifts or target are being suppressed by the authority of the church or denomination.
It would be nice if the church were like a cemetery under the moon because there would be no noise, but there is no work of life and growth.
Since the church is a community of imperfect people anyway, a noisy neonatal room is better.
