Bible Reading - Essther 8:1~9

8:1 That same day King Xerxes gave Queen Esther the estate of Haman, the enemy of the Jews. 

같은 날, 크세르크스 왕은 유대인들의 적, 하만의 자산을 왕비 에스더에게 주었다.;

And Mordecai came into the presence of the king, for Esther had told how he was related to her.

에스더가 모르드개와 자기의 친척 관계를 이야기하자 모르드개가 왕 앞에 나아왔다.

8:2 The king took off his signet(인) ring, which he had reclaimed(반환받다) from Haman, and presented it to Mordecai.

왕은 하만에게서 되찾은 자신의 인장 반지를 벗어 모르드개에게 주었다.

And Esther appointed him over Haman's estate.

그리고 에스더는 그를 하만의 자산을 관리하는 사람으로 임명했다.

8:3 Esther again pleaded with the king, falling at his feet and weeping.

에스더는 다시 왕에게 간청하며, 왕의 발 앞에 엎드려 울었다.

She begged him to put an end to the evil plan of Haman the Agagite, which he had devised against the Jews.

그녀는 아각 사람 하만이 유대인들을 상대로 꾸민 사악한 계략을 중단시켜 달라고 그에게 간청했다.

8:4 Then the king extended the gold scepter to Esther and she arose and stood before him.

그때 왕은 그 금홀을 에스더에게 내밀었고 그녀는 일어나서 그 앞에 섰다. 

8:5 "If it pleases the king," she said, 만일 왕께서 기뻐하신다면 

"and if he regards me with favor and thinks it the right thing to do,

그리고 그가 나를 호의적으로 여기고 그것이 옳은 일이라고 생각한다면,

and if he is pleased with me, 그리고 나를 기뻐하신다면 

let an order be written overruling the dispatches that Haman son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, devised and wrote to destroy the Jews in all the king's provinces.

아각 사람 함므다다의 아들 하만이 왕의 모든 지방에 있는 유대인을 멸절하기 위해 고안하고 작성한 명령을 무효화하는 명령을 내려 주소서

8:6 For how can I bear to see disaster fall on my people?

내 백성에게 재앙이 닥치는 것을 내가 어떻게 견딜 수 있겠습니까?

How can I bear to see the destruction of my family?"

어떻게 내 가족이 멸절되는 것을 보고 견딜 수 있겠습니까?

8:7 King Xerxes replied to Queen Esther and to Mordecai the Jew,

크세르크스 왕이 왕비 에스더와 유대인 모르드개에게 대답하였다.

"Because Haman attacked the Jews, 하만이 유대인들을 공격하였기에 

I have given his estate to Esther, 나는 그의 재산을 에스더에게 주었고 

and they have hanged him on the gallows. 그들은 교수대에 그를 목매달았다.

8:8 Now write another decree in the king's name in behalf of(~대신에)  the Jews as seems best to you, and seal it with the king's signet ring--

이제 왕의 이름으로 유대인들을 위하여 또 다른 조서를 써서 왕의 인장 반지로 봉인하라.

for no document written in the king's name and sealed with his ring can be revoked."

왕의 이름으로 쓰여지고 왕의 반지로 봉인된 문서는 철회될 수 없다."

8:9 At once the royal secretaries were summoned--on the twenty-third day of the third month, the month of Sivan.

그러자 왕실 비서관들이 시반월, 즉 3월 23일에 소집되었습니다.

They wrote out all Mordecai's orders to the Jews, and to the satraps, governors and nobles of the 127 provinces stretching from India to Cush.

그들은 모르드개의 모든 명령을 유대인들과 인도에서 구스까지 127개 지방의 태수, 총독, 귀족들에게 써서 보냈다.

These orders were written in the script of each province and the language of each people and also to the Jews in their own script and language.

이 명령은 각 지방의 문자와 각 민족의 언어로 기록되었고, 유대인들에게는 그들 자신의 문자와 언어로도 기록되었다.
