8:10 Mordecai wrote in the name of King Xerxes, sealed the dispatches(공문서들) with the king's signet ring, and sent them by mounted couriers(기마병), who rode fast horses especially bred for the king.

모르드개는 크세르크세스 왕의 이름으로 편지를 쓰고, 왕의 인장 반지로 공문서들을 봉인한 다음, 왕을 위해 특별히 사육된 빠른 말을 탄 기마병을 통해 (그 공문서들을, the dispatches) 보냈다.

8:11 The king's edict granted the Jews in every city the right to assemble and protect themselves; to destroy, kill and annihilate(전멸시키다) any armed force of any nationality or province that might attack them and their women and children; and to plunder the property of their enemies.

왕의 칙령은 모든 도시의 유대인들에게 집회하고 자신들을 보호할 권리를 허락했으며 유대인들과 그들의 여성, 어린이들을 공격하는 어떤 국적이나 지방의 무장 세력이라도 파괴하고 죽이고 섬멸할 권리와 또한 적의 재산을 약탈할 권리도 허락했다.

8:12 The day appointed for the Jews to do this in all the provinces of King Xerxe

크세르크세스 왕의 모든 영지에서 이것을 행하도록 유대인들을 위해 정해진 그 날은

was the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, the month of Adar.

열두번째 달, 즉 아달월의 13일이었다.

8:13 A copy of the text of the edict was to be issued as law in every province and made known to the people of every nationality so that the Jews would be ready on that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.

칙령의 사본을 모든 지방에 법으로 공포하고 모든 국적의 사람들에게 알려서 유대인들이 그날 적에게 복수할 준비를 하도록 했다.

8:14 The couriers, riding the royal horses, raced out(달려나가다), spurred on(박차를 가하다) by the king's command. 왕의 명령에 따라, 왕의 말을 탄 전령들이 박차를 가하여 달려 나갔다.

And the edict was also issued in the citadel of Susa. 그리고 그 칙령은 수사 성채에도 공포되었다.

8:15 Mordecai left the king's presence wearing royal garments of blue and white, a large crown of gold and a purple robe of fine linen.

모르드개는 푸른색과 흰색으로 된 왕실 예복을 입고, 큰 금관과 고운 아마포로 된 보라색 옷을 입고 왕 앞으로 나갔다.

And the city of Susa held a joyous celebration.그리고 수사성에서는 기쁨에 찬 축제가 열렸다.

8:16 For the Jews it was a time of happiness and joy, gladness and honor.

유대인들에게 그것은 행복과 기쁨, 즐거움과 명예의 시간이었다.

8:17 In every province and in every city, wherever the edict of the king went, there was joy and gladness among the Jews, with feasting and celebrating.

왕의 칙령이 내려진 모든 지방과 모든 성읍에는 유대인들 사이에 기쁨과 즐거움이 넘쳤으며, 잔치와 축하 행사가 벌어졌다.

And many people of other nationalities became Jews because fear of the Jews had seized them.

그리고 다른 많은 국적자의 사람들이 유대인들에 대한 두려움이 그들을 사로잡았기 때문에 유대인들이 되었다.
