Can AI Truly Be Ethical in Education?

AI is reshaping how we learn, teach and connect, but can it do so ethically?

Professor Ir. Dr Leong Wai Yie from the Faculty of Engineering and Quantity Surveying explored this question in her research on the ethical design of AI for learning systems, co-authored with J.B. Zhang.

She highlighted AI’s potential to personalise learning, support students with disabilities and reduce teachers’ workloads, while also warning of ethical risks such as data privacy, bias and unequal access.
