<In Class>

윤정구, Yun, Jung-gu

Among the stone stairs up Mount Worak,

A few plants of ixeris raise yellow umbrellas.

The mountain-village children climb up and down the stairs

As they walk ten miles to school.

The circular signboard says: “In Class”;

The mountain-village children’s steps amazingly avert the signboard.

On closer inspection,

Ant school, ant hospital, ant church, and

Ant post office lie hidden by the stone stairs, in a row.

The black-uniformed ant soldiers in front of the post office

Turn back, being unable to throw the bombs

They carried on their shoulders with effort;

They cannot possibly throw the bombs at the girl writing a letter.

수업 중

윤 정 구

월악산 오르는 돌계단 사이

개씀바귀 두어 포기

샛노란 우산을 펴들었다

계단을 오르내리며

십리 길 학교 오가는

산동네 아이들의 발자국이

용하게 피해 지나가는

둥근 팻말은 <수업 중>이다

자세히 보니

개미 학교, 개미 병원, 개미 교회당

개미 우체국이 조르라니

돌계단 옆으로 숨어 있다

우체국 앞 검은 제복 개미 병정들

힘들여 메고 온 폭탄알

던지지 못하고 돌아선다

편지 쓰고 있는 소녀에게

폭탄을 던질 수는 없다
