Choi Chul-joo's Art Review : Chung Won-il‘s Photo realized from Roland Barthes's Coincidence - Chung Won-il‘s Photo Exhibition "Trees, forests, stories."

<Trees, forests, stories.>
The shapes of black and white trees form the basis for seeing a cross section in the structure of a
geometric forest.
Chung Won-il tries to find a forest where the trees and human desires coexist as a natural scenery
image.
It is a winter forest where the light meet the trees without a hitch have no leaves.
It is a natural internal structure that protects the cotton state of the growing trunk and branch of
the wood forest for the winter to pass.
So he finds a arrested time forest left over from the flow of nature.
Seurat's <Pink Scenery> shows green trees under light pink streets between them.
It forms the impressive order of a forest in the shade of blue with yellow and blue, a combination
of the colors between the trees and the roads.
Chung Won-il captures the realistic image of the tree forest, which can reveal gaps in
the trees, and shapes it as a shade of gray without color.
It is not a tree of external scenery but a balanced impression against one and two trees in a forest
of bare leaves.
Chung Won-il tries to take out the story of trees from the forest in winter.
The forest exposes the plain branches and blocks the passage.
It is an imbalance between the space between the branches of the tree that he sees in the straight
photo he faces.
Therefore, he balances the trees with the gap between the torsion of the branches at the place
where the trees dominate the view of the forest rather than the mountain.
And he creates a balanced landscape from a unique margins on the surmounted image of the time
-created trees in a tree.
This is a real representation of the tree in the phenomenon in which it is disappearing. In other
words, it is a concept of a visual opening in which the unstructured tree in a forest can no longer
be represented in a general image.
Chung Won-il seek for the image of wood forest that is accepted at the same time by
putting the subject in the image of the tree and the one that recognizes the desire of the others.
Here, the forest is a place where images of trees and the desire of the others are collected.
Accordingly, he is restricted in the symbolism of the forest that relies on the same time-liness,
so that he can gaze the real forest through the symbolic regulations that recognize the desire of
the others.
Like this, he opens a gap between the trees, which reveals the inside reality of the other's desire
in the path hidden by the forest.
Nevertheless, Chung Won-il does not decide the actual meaning of the forest.
Like Roland Barthes, he makes photographs that he does not analyze to become conscious of
from the coincidence.
And, by hiding the cracks between the trees and creating a pattern of wood that is balanced with
overlapping branches, it forms the structure of the artistic photograph of the forest.
It is Chung Won-il's photograph process of coexisting consciousness with the real tree
and the desire to stimulate the balance between wood and inside space.
But he doesn't follow a tree forest as coincidence. Therefore he is unaffected by light.
In other words, he is unaffected of nature and push through the traces of light in the forest to
balance the wood, he make it original shape of wood.
