[바이블 애플] KJV 흠정역 에스더8장

1. 그 날에 아하수에로 왕이 유대인들의 원수 하만의 집을 왕비 에스더에게 주니라. 에스더가 모르드개가 자기와 어떤 관계인가를 왕께 고하였으므로 모르드개가 왕 앞에 나아오니

On that day did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he [was] unto her.

2. 왕이 하만에게서 거둔 자기 반지를 빼어 모르드개에게 주매 에스더가 모르드개를 세워 하만의 집을 다스리게 하니라.

And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

3. 에스더가 여전히 다시 왕 앞에서 말하며 왕의 발에 엎드려 아각 사람 하만이 유대인들을 치려고 꾸민 계략과 해악을 제거해 줄 것을 눈물로 그에게 간청하니

And Esther spake yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and besought him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews. 

4. 그때에 왕이 에스더를 향해 황금 홀(笏)을 내밀매 이에 에스더가 일어나 왕 앞에 서서

Then the king held out the golden sceptre toward Esther. So Esther arose, and stood before the king,

5. 이르되, 왕이 만일 기뻐하시며 내가 왕의 눈앞에서 은총을 입었고 또 왕이 그 일을 옳게 여기시며 왕의 눈으로 나를 기쁘게 보실진대 문서를 쓰게 하사 아각 사람 함므다다의 아들 하만이 왕의 모든 지방에 있는 유대인들을 멸하려고 계획하여 쓴 편지를 취소하소서.

And said, If it please the king, and if I have found favour in his sight, and the thing [seem] right before the king, and I [be] pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which [are] in all the kings provinces: 

6. 내가 어찌 내 백성에게 임할 화를 차마 볼 수 있으리이까? 또 내 친족들이 멸망하는 것을 차마 볼 수 있으리이까? 하니라.

For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred? 

7. 그때에 아하수에로 왕이 왕비 에스더와 유대인 모르드개에게 이르되, 보라, 하만이 유대인들에게 손을 대었으므로 그들이 그를 교수대에 매달았고 내가 하만의 집을 에스더에게 주었으니

Then the king Ahasuerus said unto Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews.

8. 너희는 또한 왕의 이름으로 유대인들을 위해 너희 마음대로 문서를 쓰고 왕의 반지로 그것을 날인할지어다. 왕의 이름으로 기록하고 왕의 반지로 날인한 문서는 아무도 취소할 수 없느니라, 하니라.

Write ye also for the Jews, as it liketh you, in the kings name, and seal [it] with the kings ring: for the writing which is written in the kings name, and sealed with the kings ring, may no man reverse.

9. 이에 그때에 셋째 달 곧 시반 월 즉 그 달 이십삼일에 왕의 서기관들이 소집되어 모르드개가 명령한 모든 것에 따라 문서를 써서 인도로부터 이디오피아까지 백스물일곱 지방의 유대인들과 부관들과 지방들의 총독들과 치리자들에게 보내되 각 지방의 글에 따라 각 지방에 각 백성에게 그들의 말대로 보내고 또 유대인들에게 그들의 글과 말로 보내니라.

Then were the kings scribes called at that time in the third month, that [is], the month Sivan, on the three and twentieth [day] thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which [are] from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.

10. 그가 아하수에로 왕의 이름으로 쓰고 왕의 반지로 그것을 날인해서 편지를 말 등에 타는 파발꾼들과 노새와 낙타와 젊은 단봉낙타를 타는 자들을 통해 보내니라.

And he wrote in the king Ahasuerus name, and sealed [it] with the kings ring, and sent letters by posts on horseback, [and] riders on mules, camels, [and] young dromedaries:

11. 그 편지에서 왕은 모든 도시에 있던 유대인들이 함께 모여 자기들의 생명을 지키기 위해 일어서고 또 그들과 그들의 어린것들과 여인들을 습격하려는 백성과 지방의 모든 권력자들을 멸하고 죽이고 소멸시키며 또 탈취물로 그들에게서 전리품을 취할 것을 허락하되

Wherein the king granted the Jews which [were] in every city to gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, to slay, and to cause to perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, [both] little ones and women, and [to take] the spoil of them for a prey,

12. 아하수에로 왕의 모든 지방에서 하루 동안에 즉 십이월 곧 아달 월 십삼일에 할 것을 허락하였고

Upon one day in all the provinces of king Ahasuerus, [namely], upon the thirteenth [day] of the twelfth month, which [is] the month Adar.

13. 모든 지방에 전달될 명령을 기록한 문서의 사본을 모든 백성들에게 널리 알려 유대인들이 예비하였다가 그들의 원수들에게 복수하게 하니라.

The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province [was] published unto all people, and that the Jews should be ready against that day to avenge themselves on their enemies. 

14. 이처럼 노새와 낙타를 탄 파발꾼들이 왕의 명령에 따라 신속히 재촉하여 나가매 그 칙령이 수산 궁에도 전달되니라.

[So] the posts that rode upon mules [and] camels went out, being hastened and pressed on by the kings commandment. And the decree was given at Shushan the palace.

15. 모르드개가 청색과 흰색으로 된 왕의 예복을 입고 금으로 된 큰 관을 쓰고 고운 아마와 자주색 옷을 입고 왕 앞에서 물러나오니 수산 시가 기뻐하며 즐거워하고

And Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a garment of fine linen and purple: and the city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad. 

16. 유대인들에게는 광명과 기쁨과 즐거움과 존귀가 있었더라.

The Jews had light, and gladness, and joy, and honour.

17. 왕의 명령과 그의 칙령이 전달된 모든 곳에서는 각 지방과 각 도시에서 유대인들이 기뻐하고 즐거워하여 잔치를 열고 좋은 날을 보냈으며 그 땅의 백성 중에서 많은 사람이 유대인이 되었으니 이는 유대인들의 두려움이 그들에게 임하였기 때문이더라.

And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the kings commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.
