Overview of 2 Corinthians (2)
2 Corinthians 6 is about the path of a worker. It is Paul’s autobiography. It is tearful.
Looking at this, Paul has no reason to be disqualified as a worker of God’s new covenant.
2 Corinthians 7 is about sorrow.
The duality of sorrow is godly sorrow and worldly sorrow.
The new covenant always makes us sorrow about God, while the old covenant makes us sorrow about worldly things such as what to eat and what to drink.
When you see pastors talking about clean poverty or clean wealth these days, you can see that their interest is ultimately in that.
Why do pastors have to keep talking about money?
It is evidence that they are staying there.
If you talk about sin, it is the same as if you are in the place of sin.
The key verse of chapter 7 is verse 10.
“For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation not to be regreted of: but the sorrow of the world workes death.”
Godly sorrow always makes us anxious day and night, sitting and standing, wondering how to apply the cross of Christ to ourselves.
Through the message of the cross, we receive the blessing of salvation the baptism of the Holy Spirit come in through born again, repentance, forgiveness of sins.
Is there any repentance more precious than holding on to what the Lord has held us during repentance?
We need a period of time to hear and digest the gospel that we have been completely caught up in the Lord.
The Apostle Paul not only knows how to hit, but also how to comfort.
He is always good at disciplining and comforting with the Word of God.
That is why 1 Corinthians is like a father, and 2 Corinthians contains an image like a mother.
Chapters 8 and 9 are about the issue of collection.
How do we give? Why should we give?
He tell us what the benefits of collection are.
The concept of collection in 2 Corinthians is different from the concept of collection today.
The collection at that time were for relief, that is, collection to reduce the gap between the rich and the poor, and missionary expenses.
Paul himself was included in them.
If we give ourselves in gratitude for the fact that the Lord Jesus Christ shed His blood on the cross, died, rose again, sat down at the right hand of God, and intercede for us, we have been redeemed and have been reconciled to God through Christ in the Holy Spirit, then we can give collection.
Whether it is tithes, thanksgiving, or missionary collection, if we have the consciousness that we are giving them to God as our own, then they are already donations and cannot be gifts to God.
All things belong to God, but if you offer something to God as if it were your own, God will turn away from you.
People will encourage them because they are in need.
The key verse of chapter 8 is verses 13-15.
“For I mean not that others man be eased, and you burdened: But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want; that there may be equality: As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over, and he that had gathered little had no lack.”
The key verses of chapter 9 are verses 9-11.
“As it is written, He has dispersed abroad; he has given to the poor: his righteousness remaines for ever. Now he that ministeres seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seedsown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness. Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causes through us thanksgiving to God.”
There is no need to explain more about collection.
Chapters 10 and 11 are about the problem of false ministers.
The key verse in chapter 10 is verses 17-18.
“But he that who glories, let him glory in the Lord. For not he that commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.”
The key verse in chapter 11 is verse 2.
“For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.”
And chapters 12 and 13 are about the debate on the true apostles.
2 Corinthians consists of the problem of workers and the problem of offerings, and finally, it wraps up the results of 1Corinthians.
The problem of false ministers must be highlighted through 2 Corinthians as workers of the new covenant.
Many false prophets appear in the last days.
Therefore, 2 Corinthians is very important.
The early days of the gospel, that is, the early church, and the last days are very important times.
It is the preservation of the original church.
The problem is that false teachers do not realize at all that they are telling lies.
That is how much the education based on Greek philosophy has taken over the land of the human heart and brain.
The Book of Revelation says that the earth is helping the true church by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon spewed out (Rev. 12:16).
So the heavens and those who live in them are rejoice, but woe to the earth and the sea (Rev. 12:12).
However, if you do not know who belongs to heaven and who the earth and the sea are, then you are a spiritual blind person who cannot tell the difference between dung and soybean paste, so no matter how much I talk, it is useless.
It's like leading a cow to water, but you can't make it drink.
The key verse of chapter 12 is verse 9.
“And he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
And the key verse of chapter 13 is verse 5.
“Examine yourselves, whether you be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know you not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except you be reprobates?”
It is better to view this verse as the key verse of the entire book of 1 and 2 Corinthians.
This faith was not present in the church of Corinth, and neither is the church today.
Therefore, 2 Corinthians would be a very good material for a minister’s seminar.
