On Friday 3rd June 2022, Marlborough College Malaysia marked the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with ceremonial tree planting and activities throughout the day.
The day started with a whole College ceremony where a commemorative plaque was unveiled at the site of the Queen’s Green Canopy, an initiative to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s accession to the throne, all part of creating a legacy in honour of the Queen that will benefit future generations.
At MCM, twenty-two new trees have been planted around the cricket oval to represent all parts of the College. A representative from each of the Prep Houses (Chichester, Hunt, Iskandar, Merlin, Seymour, and Taylor,) and the Senior Houses Butler (Honan, Munawir Hill, Sheppard, Steel, Thompson, Wallace and Wills) as well as members from the Common Room, the Estates, Catering, Security, IT and Transport Departments and the Health Centre all assisted in planting a tree.
Throughout the day, Prep School celebrated the Jubilee with themes lessons and activities, such as a Jubilee Quiz made by the House Pengawas (Prefects) and Crown decorating.
Everyone enjoyed the traditional British lunch of Roast Beef, Yorkshire Puddings, gravy, or Fish and Chips, followed by a delicious Sticky Toffee Pudding.
