Empty mountains, no people; the destiny of the Later Heaven, flowing water blooms, and the True Man comes.
First Su Dongpo, Song and Han tribes, later Park Samsan, to reach Han.
China transforms into a small land, transforms into the Northeast, and the divine and human unite to define humanity. Through the Heavenly Seal Scripture and the Yin Seal Scripture, the rain and dew are cast to establish a new capital;
Buddhism, Confucianism, and the Transformation into a One Way; myriad transformations establish a foundation; and a new body is born.
Essence, vital energy, and divine destiny unify the path; the people are settled in the North and South; and a sage emerges. As in the seasons of spring and autumn, the pine and bamboo season, the division of the imperial kingdoms of the twelfth month;
The Threefold One Body, harmonious transformation and salvation, encompassing all immortals, Buddhas, and saints, and the heavenly and human realms;
Connecting the four realms and eightfold, intersecting all directions, there is no distinction between me and you and myself. Arhat Song
The Sixteenth Venerable One sits cross-legged, holding the Ruyi Staff at an angle; below him, a young boy burns incense, causing the scent to rise like a scroll, while an attendant pours water into a flowerpot.
The Sixteenth Venerable One sits cross-legged, holding the Ruyi Staff at an angle; below him, a young boy burns incense, causing the scent to rise like a scroll, and an attendant is watering a flowerpot. The Seventeenth Venerable One sat leaning against the water's edge, gazing up at the flying cranes; one had already landed, and an attendant caressed it with his hand, while a young boy held a bamboo basket, gathered fruit, and tossed it into the water.
Therefore, a verse is composed. If the mind is guided to the vast and boundless realm, it soars together with the cranes; if the mind is concealed in the mysterious depths, it sinks together with the fish.
When the Great Arhat enters the Samadhi of the Buddha, in the midst of looking down, one will once again reach the other shore.
Therefore, in this verse, if the mind is guided to the spiritual realm, it soars together with the cranes; if the mind is concealed through the wondrous path, it sinks together with the fish.
When the Great Arhat enters the Samadhi of the Buddha, in the midst of looking down, one will once again reach the other shore. The Eighteenth Venerable One stands with his chin resting on his hand, glaring wide-eyed; below him are two young boys breaking a stone and offering a pomegranate.
The Eighteenth Venerable One, having cast off the mundane world, sits with his chin resting on his hand and eyes wide open, while two young boys below him break a pomegranate and offer it to him.
The Song says:
With his chin resting on his hand, he sits serenely on his feet. O Venerable One, is the origin of all things? I have heard of it from the Buddha.
And my disciple contemplates, saying that the place of non-use is the time of unmanifestation.
I recite this: Having renounced the secular world and resolved to walk the path of an ascetic, sitting quietly in the lotus position with my chin resting on my hand,
Is the place where the Venerable One wanders with his mind the origin of all things?
I have heard from the Buddha and from our disciple Zisi that the place of non-use is called the time of unmanifestation. After the Buddha entered Nirvana, the sentient beings of Jambudvipa became strong and fierce, acting as they pleased and refusing to believe in the Buddha's teachings. For this reason, many wise men and saints have all hidden themselves and do not appear; thus, I alone guide people with my images and last words, yet I fail to enlighten them. However, on Mount Emei, Mount Wutai, and Mount Tiantai, strange sights appear exactly as they are, causing people to clearly see them.
I keep sixteen statues of Arhats in my home; whenever I offer tea as a tribute, they transform into white milk, or sometimes solidify into snowflakes or peony blossoms. It is impossible to even name or describe them. Some say, "The Arhats' compassion is so profound and great that they forbid contact with people," and indeed, perhaps that is the case. I have now obtained these Eighteen Arhat Statues in Haenam and given them to my younger brother, Jayu (Su Cheol), so that he may practice the rituals of reverence from time to time, and whenever the couple celebrates their birthdays, offer offerings to pray for a bountiful harvest and blessings. I also attach the eulogy that I composed for him in the past.
Jayu was born on February 20th, and his wife, Lady Sa of Deokyang, was born on November 17th. Written on the first day of the Middle Year of this year. Among the Sixteen Arhats,
The First Arhat, Venerable Pinduroparata, is an Arhat who, as previously explained, remains on Mount Tiantai to this day and saves sentient beings with whom he has a karmic connection. This means he is in a state of waiting until the appearance of Maitreya Buddha.
The Second Arhat, Venerable Garakgavalcha, resides in the Kingdom of Gashimira, leading a retinue of 500 Arhats. In current geographical terms, this is the Kashmir region at the western end of the Himalayas. The Third Arhat is Venerable Tasa of Karakabali, who resides in the Eastern Land of Seungsin (the continent east of Mount Sumeru) along with the retinue of 600 Arhats. "Seungsin" means a human being of exceptional stature. In the future, our people, who will emerge from the Emperor, will possess the greatest stature among all human beings in the world.
The Fourth Arhat is Venerable Sobinda, an Arhat residing in the Northern Land of Kuro (meaning "to go north") with the retinue of 700 Arhats.
The Fifth Arhat is called Venerable Nagura, or is also referred to as Nakgeona. He resides in the Southern Land of Jambudvipa, leading the retinue of 800 Arhats. The Sixth Venerable is Venerable Bhaddara, also known as Baldara, who resides in Tamolla Province (recognized as Jeju Island or the land of Sri Lanka) with the retinue of 900 Arhats.
The Seventh Venerable is Venerable Garika, who resides in a place called Sanghadha Province with the retinue of 1,000 Arhats.
The Eighth Venerable is Venerable Balsarabuldara, who resides in Balalna Province with 1,100 retinues.
The Ninth Venerable is Venerable Subakka, who resides on Mt. Xiangzui with 900 Arhats. This name means a land large enough to be intoxicated by fragrance.
The Tenth Venerable is Venerable Pantaka, who resides in the Tushita Heaven with 1,300 retinues. The Tushita Heaven refers to the world at the summit of Mount Sumeru (the 33 heavens), because the number ten represents perfection. The 11th Venerable is Venerable Nahula, also known as the Son of the Buddha, who resides in the Piliyanggu Province with 1,100 Arhats.
The 12th Venerable is Venerable Nagasena, who appears in the Milinda Questions and Answers and resides on Mount Bandopa with 1,200 followers. The Milinda Questions and Answers refers to the dialogue between King Milinda (Menander I), a Greek-Bactrian king, and the Buddhist monk Nagasena; it is a Buddhist text containing the dialogue between them.
The 13th Venerable is Venerable Ingetan, who resides on Mount Guangxia with 1,300 followers. The 14th Venerable is Venerable Varanavasa, who is staying on Mount Gaju with 1,300 followers.
The 15th Venerable is Venerable Ashida, who is staying on Mount Chibong with 1,500 followers.
The 16th Venerable is Venerable Judabantaka, the younger brother of the 10th Venerable, Venerable Mahabantaka.

China se transforma en una pequeña tierra, se transforma en el Noreste, y lo divino y lo humano se unen para definir la humanidad. Mediante la Escritura del Sello Celestial y la Escritura del Sello Yin, la lluvia y el rocío se derraman para establecer una nueva capital;
La esencia, la energía vital y el destino divino unifican el camino; los pueblos se asientan en el Norte y el Sur; y emerge un sabio. Como en las estaciones de primavera y otoño, la estación del pino y el bambú, la división de los reinos imperiales del duodécimo mes;
