DAERONG DAERONG
by D.J. YOON
Spring flowers so early to bloom yet
Spring rain stopping to take a walk around
I see raindrops every branch of a tree
Dangling dangling raindrops
Raindrops like spring flowers
Raindrops looking to take a long time
I see Dasom’s face in the raindrops
Smiling brightly at me
Step by step looking forward
Stepping toward raindrops to view more closely
I see Dasom's mouth in the raindrops
Talking silently to me
Appreciation Review
Raindrops on tree branches are dangling lightly after the spring rain.
The raindrops hanging radiantly look like spring flowers.
In the hanging raindrops the poet discovers the bright face of Dasom whom he might have missed for a long time. In the swinging raindrops Dasom seems like saying something to the poet.
The poet wonders what she’s trying to say through dangling raindrops.
DAERONG DAERONG RAINDROPS !!!
P.S.
The word ‘daerong daerong’ describes the appearance of small objects hanging and shaking lightly one after another, just like raindrops hanging on a tree branch, but as for me it feels like an onomatopoeia representing a sound as well.
