자식이 부모의 재앙을 받고,

  Children suffer the misfortune of their parents,

모든 악인의 아내는 남편과 함께 재앙을 받으며,

  the wives of all evil men suffer misfortune alongside their husbands,

남편 없는 아내는 자손과 함께 재앙을 받는다.

  and a widoowed woman suffers misfortune alongside her descendants.

子受父禍하니 (자수부화하니)

   Children receive the calamity of their fathers,
  
諸惡人妻는 和夫同禍하고 (제악인처는 화부동화하고)

  The wives of evil men share the same calamity with their husbands,

無夫惡女는 和子孫同禍니라. (무부악녀는 화자손동화니라.)

  And evil women without husbands share the same calamity with their children

 and grandchildren.

 [Explanation, 풀이]

惡(악)의 應(응)함의 마지막이자 본 경전의 마지막 내용이 자식에게 미침으로 끝나고 있다.

  The final retribution of evil, as well as the concluding section of this scripture,

  ends with its extension to one′s children.

자신이 저지른 모든 善惡(선악)이 자신에게만 應(응)하는 것이 아니라
자식에게 까지 미침을 말하고 있는 것이다.

  This conveys that all good and evil actions committed by oneself do not merely bring

  retribution upon onesself, but extend even unto one′s children.

이 내용이 무엇을 말하는 것인지를 우리 민족은 누구나 알고 있다.

  Everyone among our people understands what this truth impliess.

그리고 그것은 작게 볼 때는 혹 아닐지 몰라도 크게 볼 때는 그대로 이루어진다는 것도 알고 있다.

  We also know that while it may not seem apparent from a narrow perspective,

   it inevitably comes to pass when viewed from a broader, larger perspective.

평생 善(선)을 쌓아 자식이 그 혜택을 받는 다면 그것보다 아름다운 일은 없다.

  If one accumulates goodness throughout a lifetime so that one′s children

   reap the benefits, there can be nothing more beautiful.

그러나 자신이 쌓은 惡(악)에 대한 應(응)함을 살아서는 자신이 받고
죽어서는 죄없는 자식이 받는다면 그보다 무서운 일은 다시 없을 것이다.

  However, if one receives retribution for one′s accumulated evil while alive, and after death,

  one′s innocent children bear that retribution, there could be nothing more terrifying than that.
