Revelation 3:12 – The New Jerusalem as The Holy City of Jerusalem, 1/3 size of the earth

☞ Revelation 3:12 - Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name. (NIV); Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. (KJV)

(1-1) What is the final destination of the Bible? It is ‘The Holy City, The New Jerusalem’ as the eternal dwelling place where there is no evil and only 100% goodness (Revelation 21:2~3). Therefore, among the seven messages sent to seven churches, the message to the Church in Philadelphia is the brightest highlight (Reference - Bible Library - Revelation 3:12, 'He who overcomes is a pillar in the temple of my God...’)

(1-2) The New Jerusalem as The Holy City of Jerusalem – ‘The New Jerusalem' in Revelation  3:12 is the same as ‘The New Jerusalem’ appeared in chapters 21~22 of Revelation. At this time, ‘The New Jerusalem’ refers to ‘The Holy City of Jerusalem’ as written in Revelation 21:2 and 21:10. I will discuss this in detail later in chapters 21~22 of Revelation, but let's take a quick look at how big this Holy City of Jerusalem is.

(1-3) The size of the Holy City of Jerusalem - According to Revelation 21:16, ‘The New Jerusalem’ is a square city measuring 2,220 km each in height, width, and length. 1 stadia is 185 meters, so 12,000 stadia is 2,220 km. The current radius of the earth is 6,300 km, so it is 1/3 size of the earth. However, this only refers to the size of ‘The New Jerusalem’. If you include the Nations outside of ‘The New Jerusalem’ (Revelation 21:24), it is thought to be almost the size of the present Earth.

(1-4) The height or thickness of the wall is 144 cubits, and 1 cubit is about 45 cm, so it is about 65 meters (Revelation 21:17).

(1-5) ‘The Holy City of Jerusalem’ has 12 gates with the names of the 12 tribes of Israel (Revelation 21:12), and 12 foundations with the names of the 12 apostles of the Lamb (Revelation 21:14).

☞ Revelation 21:12 - It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel.
