Electric Power R&D Company Seeks Senior Project Manager/Project Development Lead for Advanced Generation Demonstration Projects
The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is looking for a Senior Project Manager with extensive Project Management/Development experience to drive from a ground up/start up capacity our major demonstration projects in our Generation Sector. This individual must have proven Technical abilities and project development expertise as well as International experience. In this role, you will manage and lead the project planning and development from drawing board to implementation. This individual will develop new projects, help with funding efforts, create the project framework and timetables and help manage the project execution. These technology demonstrations will be in the area of advanced power generation technologies including both carbon capture and storage from integrated gasification combined cycle and pulverized coal power plants and renewables.
In This Position
Working at EPRI is truly a unique experience and EPRI Project Leaders perform tasks outside of the “traditional” engineering role. Along with your typical project management duties, you will:
Follow up on current generation and storage technology development activities by U.S and International organizations such as DOE, EPA, National Labs, IEA etc.
Lead Project Development activities including:
Developing new projects.
Performing due diligence on prospective projects.
Engaging with potential hosts and vendors related to new technology.
Helping to create and manage an International collaborative.
Contributing in funding efforts associated with the projects.
Advise and support Project, Program, and Area Managers. Help support all technical and financial facets of projects:
Provide support for all tasks (may include management/supervision of support staff)
Conduct technical evaluations.
Develop project plans, budgets and schedules.
Ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
Ensure selection and organization of technical support staff and contractors.
Participate in meetings with project hosts, funders, EPRI staff, and external contractors.
Develop and communicate project results, industry guidelines, and technical reports to staff and utility committees.
Transfer knowledge and provide direct support to project sponsors.
The Ideal Candidate
Holds a Masters degree in chemical or mechanical engineering with exposure to engineering economics (Ph.D. degree preferred).
Has ten years of experience in managing multiple technical projects, working a power or process engineering group with experience in systems analysis.
Has significant project development and sales-related experience in power systems.
Has in-depth knowledge on power generation technologies and their economics.
Has detailed knowledge of advanced coal-based power systems, including integrated gasification combined cycle plants.
Has working knowledge on renewable generation including solar, wind, geothermal, and other technologies.
Has working knowledge on carbon capture and storage technologies.
Has impeccable communication, writing and presentation skills.
Is willing to travel domestically and internationally.
