Moxa Heat and Scabs.

In some moxa points, you will feel heat when moxibustion is applied at first, but you will feel no heat when you keep doing moxa on the points. Once you have had thick scabs, you will feel less heat. It is not good to remove the scabs. The scabs are natural bandages. The scabs are where burns are being healed. Therefore, it is desirable to keep the scabs with care until they are removed in a natural manner.
If you do not feel any heat due to the thick scabs, it is desirable to keep adding more moxa until you feel heat. The scabs will not form to those who have pains due to neuralgia and rheumatism. Instead, blisters will form.
Once the scabs start to form, the pains will be alleviated. The scabs will not form if the blood circulation is not good. The formation of blisters may be due to too strong heat from moxa. However, if there are blisters despite no excessive moxa heat, it is that the blood circulation fails to provide sources to make scabs.
When there are blisters, you will feel less heat. However, it is recommended to pop off the blisters before doing moxa. If the flame color of moxa being burned is dark and dull, you will not feel heat. However, if the flame is scarlet, you will feel heat. It is thought that a gas may emit from the points due to the moxa heat stimulus. In the ancient times, people thought evil energy is going out. This may be right. At any rate, you should keep adding more moxa cones till you feel heat. If you don't feel any heal after adding more moxa cones, to stop it is another way of technique.
