1998년 Andrew Lloyd Webber의 50세 생일을 축하하는 concert가
영국 Royal Albert Hall에서 열렸다.
"The heart is slow to learn" 은 이 concert에서
Sop. Kiri Te Kanawa가 불렀던 노래이다.
(실황 녹음이라 박수소리가 섞여 있었지만 편집 중 지웠습니다)
원래는 'The Phantom of the Opera'의 속편을 염두에 두고
작곡하였으나 2년 후 2000년 Webber는 가사를 바꾸어 그의
새 musical 'The Beautiful Game'에 'Our kind of love' 라는
제목의 노래로 사용하였다.
"The Beautiful Game'은 1969년 Northern Ireland, Belfast의
종교로 인한 사회의 불안 속에서 자라난 청소년들의 얘기이다.
영국에서 11개월간 연속으로 공연된 성공작 이지만 다른 Webber의
musical과는 달리 아직 Broadway 무대에 올려지지 않고있다.

첫댓글 저는 운이 좋게도 이 장면을 동영상으로 보았습니다. 테 카나와가 바지에 치마 같은 것이 둘러진... '오르간 연주복'같은 검정색 의상을 입고 나와서 노래하였습니다. 잘 들었습니다. 감사합니다. ncho님.
키리의 연주만으로도 The Beautiful Game의 분위기가 느껴집니다. 직접 영상을 보지 않은 사람이 (자주) 훨씬 더 크고 다양한 감동을 느끼게 되는 것은 무슨 이유일까요?
영화의 감동 보다는 상상을 동반한 책에서 받는 감동이 더 클 수 도 있다는 데서 오는 이유 아닐까요.....
그렇군요. 영화를 보는 사람보다는 책을 읽는 사람이 더욱 풍부한 생각을 얻게 된다니... 아트힐에서 듣는 음악이 음악에 대한 애정을 더 깊게 해줍니다.
정말 내용의 분위기를 잘 살려서 부른다고 늘 감탄하면서 듣는 곡중의 하나입니다.그러게요,그렇게 아름다운 감성들은 서서히 이슬비에 젖듯 그렇게 천천히 느끼고 알게 되는 거 아닌가 싶어집니다.산을 다녀와 더욱 푸르러진 마음으로 만납니다.
'The Beautiful Game'... 영화에도 많이 등장하는 벨파스트의 아이들 얘기라니 보고 싶네요.
