Inspiration To Perspiration   감동을 실행으로

My grandfathers were both gardeners and so are many of my friends.

I love visiting beautiful gardens—they inspire me.

They make me want to create something equally beautiful in my own yard.

But I have trouble moving from the inspiration to the perspiration part of gardening.

My great ideas don’t become reality

because I don’t spend the time and energy to make them happen.

나의 친할아버지와 외할아버지는 모두 정원사셨고, 내 친구 중에서도 정원사가 많습니다.

나는 아름답게 단장된 정원을 구경하는 것을 좋아하는데 그런 정원들은 나에게 감동을 줍니다.

예쁘게 꾸며진 정원들은 나에게 우리 집 정원도 그처럼 아름답게 만들고 싶다는 생각이 들게 합니다.

그러나 나는 그 감동을 정원을 가꾸는 실행으로 옮기지를 못합니다.

내가 시간과 에너지를 쏟지않기 때문입니다.

This can be true in our spiritual lives as well.

We can listen to the testimonies of other people and

marvel at the work God is doing in their lives.

We can hear uplifting music and great preaching

and feel inspired to follow God more diligently.

But soon after we walk out of church,

we have trouble finding the time or making the effort to follow through.

우리의 영적 생활도 이와 마찬가지입니다.

다른 사람의 간증을 듣고 하나님이 그들의 삶을 통해 하시는 일을 보고 감탄할 수 있습니다.

우리를 영적으로 고취시키는 음악이나 설교를 듣고

하나님을 더 열심히 섬겨야겠다고 감화 받을 수도 있습니다.

그러나 우리가 교회문을 나선 후 이를 실행하기 위해 노력하거나 시간을 내는 것은 어려운 일입니다.

James described such Christians as being like those who look in a mirror,

see themselves, but do nothing to fix what is wrong (James 1:23-24).

They hear the Word, but it doesn’t lead to action.

James says we need to do—not just hear.

야고보는 이런 그리스도인들이 마치 거울에 제 자신을 비쳐보고 잘못된 것을 보고도

 고치기 위해 아무것도 하지 않는 사람과 같다고 말했습니다(약 1:23-24).

그들은 말씀을 듣지만 행동으로 옮기지 못합니다.

야고보는 우리가 듣기만 하지 말고 행하는 자가 되어야 한다고 말합니다.

When we move from the inspiration of simply “hearing”

about the good being done by others

to the perspiration of actually “doing” good works ourselves,

the implanted Word of God (1:21) will bloom into a beautiful garden of spiritual fruit.

다른 사람이 행한 선행을 “듣고” 단지 감화를 받는데 그치지 않고

우리 스스로 선한 일을 실제로 “행하는” 노력을 기울인다면,

 마음에 심긴 하나님의 말씀(1:21)이 활짝 피어 성령의 열매가 열리는 아름다운 정원이 될 것입니다.

[딛] 3:1	Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good,
[딛] 3:2	to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men.
[딛] 3:3	At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.
[딛] 3:4	But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,
[딛] 3:5	he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
[딛] 3:6	whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,
[딛] 3:7	so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
[딛] 3:8	This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.

[딛] 3:1	너는 그들로 하여금 통치자들과 권세 잡은 자들에게 복종하며 순종하며 모든 선한 일 행하기를 준비하게 하며
[딛] 3:2	아무도 비방하지 말며 다투지 말며 관용하며 범사에 온유함을 모든 사람에게 나타낼 것을 기억하게 하라
[딛] 3:3	우리도 전에는 어리석은 자요 순종하지 아니한 자요 속은 자요 여러 가지 정욕과 행락에 종 노릇 한 자요 악독과 투기를 일삼은 자요 가증스러운 자요 피차 미워한 자였으나
[딛] 3:4	우리 구주 하나님의 자비와 사람 사랑하심이 나타날 때에
[딛] 3:5	우리를 구원하시되 우리가 행한 바 의로운 행위로 말미암지 아니하고 오직 그의 긍휼하심을 따라 중생의 씻음과 성령의 새롭게 하심으로 하셨나니
[딛] 3:6	우리 구주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 우리에게 그 성령을 풍성히 부어 주사
[딛] 3:7	우리로 그의 은혜를 힘입어 의롭다 하심을 얻어 영생의 소망을 따라 상속자가 되게 하려 하심이라
[딛] 3:8	이 말이 미쁘도다 원하건대 너는 이 여러 것에 대하여 굳세게 말하라 이는 하나님을 믿는 자들로 하여금 조심하여 선한 일을 힘쓰게 하려 함이라 이것은 아름다우며 사람들에게 유익하니라

나는 단지 말만 듣기보다는 참된 그리스도인을 만나보고 싶다 그가 보여주는 행동과 나날이 살아가는 모습을 보고 싶다 우리가 실천할 때 삶은 가장 좋은 역사를 만든다.
