Bible Matrix ⑦: Historical & Scientific Views on Daniel and Revelation
Part 2. Revelation
Revelation 3:14~22 - To the Church in Laodicea - Lukewarm faith and naked church, Receiving Only Rebuke and discipline from Jesus
Revelation 3:14 – (1) These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation
☞ <Revelation> 3:14 - "To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation. (NIV); And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; (KJV); "Write this letter to the angel of the church in Laodicea. This is the message from the one who is the Amen - the faithful and true witness, the beginning(1) of God's new creation. /(1)Or the ruler, or the source (NLT); “Write this to the ·angel [or messenger; see 1:20] of the church in Laodicea [a city in Phrygia, a mountainous province of western Asia]: “The Amen [Hebrew for “so be it”; here referring to Jesus], the faithful and true witness, the ruler of all God has made [1:5; Prov. 8:30–31; the resurrected Jesus], says this [these things]: (EXB)
○ The Hebrew word 'Amen' means 'sure and true', 'true', 'truly so', ‘so it be', 'let it be so’, and 'I agree’, etc. During sermons or prayer times, church members use ‘Amen’ to agree with the sermon or prayer.
○ ‘Amen’ appears over 50 times in the Bible, from <Numbers> 5:22 to <Revelation> 22:21 which is the last verse of the Bible.
○ The word 'Amen' was originally used to describe the LORD God. Looking at <Isaiah> 65:16, ‘the God of truth’ in "I will seek blessings toward the God of truth, and I will swear by the God of truth“ means ‘the God of the Amen’. And ‘the God of the Amen’ means ‘the God of the Covenant’. ○ ‘The God of the Covenant’ promises to do what? Yes, ‘the God of the Covenant’ promises to create ‘a New heaven and a new earth as the New Jerusalem’ in <Isaiah> 65:17~18. This ‘New Jerusalem’ is prophesied more in detail in chapters 21 and 22 of <Revelation>.
☞ Jesus Christ of the Amen, and Jesus Christ is the Amen
○ However, in <Revelation 3:14>, ‘Amen’ means ‘Jesus’ (English Bible EXB) who is true. (Revelation 3:7).
○ The expression of Jesus as ‘the Amen' in <Revelation> 3:14 emphasizes that it is Jesus Christ himself who will create ‘the New Jerusalem in a new heaven and a new earth’ (Revelation 3:12) in chapters 21 and 22 of <Revelation>, which will be established in c.AD 12,900~. ○ Then, doesn't that mean that Jesus Christ is the origin or the source or the ruler or the beginning of the creation? the beginning and the end? of the world or of the universe?
