Greetings from the U.S.! I'm away on a four-city tour of the U.S. with my Korean counterpart, Ambassador to the U.S. Choi Young-jin, but I wanted to take a moment to briefly introduce the trip to you.
Since 1992, the Korea Economic Institute has hosted the annual “Ambassadors’ Dialogue on Korea,” which is a series of public and private outreach programs on U.S.-Korea relations throughout the United States.
In each city, we address audiences of civic leaders, business representatives, students, local media, and often state or local political leaders. We discuss the current security and economic situation on the Korean Peninsula and the state of U.S.-Korea relations.
This year’s theme is “The Road to U.S.-Korea Global Partnership,” and I think it is a wonderful opportunity to promote our bilateral relations and obviously talk about ways for Korean and American businesses to take full advantage of the historic U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement.
On our itinerary are Houston, Texas; Los Angeles, California; San Diego, California; and Honolulu, Hawaii. All of them are large cities with big Korean-American communities and significant commercial and other ties with Korea.

I think it will be an interesting and productive trip and I look forward to telling you all about it when I return to Seoul.
