Listen to Life-giving Reproof(Proverbs 15 : 19 ~ 33)

The way of sluggard is like a hedge of thorns, but the path of the upright is a level highway. A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish man despises his mother. Folly is a joy to him who lacks sense, but a man of understanding walks straight ahead. Without counsel plans fall, but with many advisers they succeed. To make an apt answer is a joy to a man, and a word in season, how good it is! The path of life leads upward for the prudent, that he may turn away from Sheol beneath. The Lord tears down the house of the proud but maintains the widow’s boundaries. The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord, but gracious words are pure. Whoever is greedy for unjust gain troubles his own household, but he who hates bribes will live. The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things. The Lord is far from the wicked pours out prayer of the righteous. The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, and good news refreshes the bones. The ear that listen to life-giving reproof will dwell among the wise, Whoever ignores instruction despises himself, but he who listens to reproof gains intelligence. The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor.

생명의 책망을 들어라(잠언 15 : 19 ~ 33)

게으른 사람의 길은 가시덤불로 덮여 있는 것 같지만, 부지런한 사람의 길은 확 트인 큰 길과 같다. 지혜로운 아들은 아버지를 기쁘게 하지만, 미련한 아들은 어머니를 업신여긴다. 생각이 모자라는 사람은 미련함을 즐기지만, 조언자들이 많으면 그 계획이 이루어진다. 적절한 대답은 사람을 기쁘게 하니, 알맞은 말이 제때에 나오면 참 즐겁다. 슬기로운 사람이 걷는 생명의 길응 위쪽으로 나 있어서, 아래로 난 스올 길을 벗어난다. 주님은 거만한 사람의 집을 헐어 버리지만, 과부가 사는 곳의 경계선은 튼튼히 세워 주신다. 악한 사람의 꾀는 주님께서 역겨워 하시지만, 친절한 사람의 말은 정결한 제물처럼 받으신다. 불의한 이익을 탐내는 사람은 자기 집에 해를 끼치지만, 뇌물을 거절하는 사람은 오래 산다. 의인의 마음은 대답할 말을 깊이 생각하지만, 악인의 입은 악한 말을 쏟아낸다. 주님은 악인을 멀리하시지만, 의인의 기도는 들어주신다. 밝은 얼굴은 사람을 기쁘게 하고, 좋은 소식은 사람을 낫게 한다. 못숨을 살리는 책망에 귀 기울이는 사람은 지혜로운 사람들 사이에 자리를 잡는다. 훈계를 싫어하는 사람은 자기 생명을 가볍게 여기는 사람이지만, 책망을 잘 듣는 사람은 지식을 얻는 사람이다. 주님을 경외하는 것은 지혜가 주는 훈계이다. 겸손하면 영광이 따른다.
