Workers' Compensation
Monies for workers whom have been injured on the job used to cover rehabilitation and medical costs. Assistance levels vary depending on province.
Social Assistance
Financial assistance is given to people who have no other income to meet their basic needs of food, clothing and shelter. Social assistance is to be accessed as a last resort. This means that all other income must be considered when determining how many dollars will be provided. Eligibility rules and amount of payment differ based on province.
Provincial top-ups for the Ederly
Some provinces have introduced seniors' supplemental programs. Again, benefit rates vary depending on which provinces one is living. This top up is typically intended to raise incomes of receipents to roughly the income levels of public assistance receipts.
