Destruction Follows Pride(Proverbs 16 : 16 ~ 33)

How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. The highway of the upright turns aside from evil; whoever guards his way preserves his life. Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor than to the word will discover good, and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord. The wise of heart is called discerning, and sweetness of speech increases persuasiveness. Good sense is a fountain of life to him who has it, but the instruction of fools is folly. The heart of the wise makes his speech judicious and adds persuasiveness to his lips. Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to soul and health to the body. There is a way that seems right works for me; his mouth urges him on. A worthless man plots evil, and his speech is like a scorching fire. A dishonest man of violence entices his his neighbor and leads him in a way that is not good. Whoever winks his eyes plans dishonest things; he who pursues his lips brings evil to pass. Gray hair is a crown of better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord.

지혜를 얻는 것이 금을 얻는 것보다 낫고, 명철을 얻는 것이 은을 얻는 것보다 낫다. 악을 떠나는 정직한 사람이 가는 큰길이다. 그 길을 지키는 사람은 자기의 생명을 지킨다. 교만에는 멸망이 다르고, 거만에는 파멸이 따른다. 겸손한 사람과 어울려 마음을 낮추는 것이, 거만한 사람과 어울려 전리품을 나누는 것보다 낫다. 말씀에 따라 조심하여 사는 사람은 일이 잘 되고, 주님을 믿는 사람은 행복하다. 마음이 지혜로운 사람을 명철하다 한다. 말이 부드러우면, 더욱 많은 지혜를 가르친다. 명철한 사람에게는 그 명철함이 생명의 샘이 되지만, 어리석은 사람에게는 그 어리석음이 벌이 된다. 마음이 지혜로운 사람은 말을 신중하게 하고, 하는 말이 설득력이 있다. 선한 말은 꿀송이 같아서, 마음을 즐겁게 하여 주고, 쑤시는 뼈를 낫게 하여 준다. 사람의 눈에는 바른길 같이 보이나, 마침내는 죽음에 이르는 길이 있다. 허기진 때가 일하게 만들고 그 입이 사람을 몰아세운다. 불량한 사람은 악을 꾀한다. 그들의 말은 맹렬한 불과 같다. 비뚤어진 말을 하는 사람은 다툼을 일으키고 , 중상하는 사람은 친한 벗들을 이간시킨다. 폭력을 쓰는 사람은 그 이웃을 윽박질러서, 좋지 않은 길을 가게 한다. 눈짓을 하는 사람은 그릇된 일을 꾀하고, 음흉하게 웃는 사람은 악한 일을 저지른다. 백발은 영화로운 면류관이니, 의로운 길을 걸어야 그것을 얻는다. 노하기를 더디하는 사람은 용사보다 낫고, 자기의 마음을 다스리는 사람은 성을 점령하는 사람보다 낫다. 제비는 사람이 뽑지만, 결정은 주님께서 하신다.
