Straits International School students #GrowBeyond by challenging themselves through community service and physical activity taking on the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award scheme.
This round, we packed our bags and headed to Pantai Teluk Kampi, Taman Negara Teluk Bahang, Penang for the ‘Adventurous Journey’ section, a.k.a trekking and camping survival practice.
We learnt the skills of setting up the tents, using a gas stove and what to pack for a camping activity. It was a great chance to test our group work and communication skills among teammates.
The award emphasises that not all learning happens in the classroom, and our young people are pushed to gain experiences outside the classroom.
