에어버스는 2025년 12월 23일, 이번 신규 주문으로 인해 스페인 공군·우주군이 수송, 해상초계 및 감시 구성으로 총 46대의 C295 기단을 운용하게 될 것이라고 밝혔다.
이번 주문과 관련된 세부 사항은 2025년 9월 공개됐는데, 당시 스페인 정부는 자국 군대를 위해 신규 고정익 항공기와 헬리콥터를 구매하는 데 43억 달러(36억 8천만 유로)를 배정한다고 발표했다.
이 패키지에는 다양한 역할을 수행하기 위한 휘르젯(Hürjet) 고등 훈련기, C295 수송기, 그리고 NH-90, H135, H175 헬리콥터가 포함됐다.
또한 2025년 12월 18일에는 스페인이 군수물자총국(DGAM)을 통해 에어버스 헬리콥터 100대를 주문했다는 사실도 발표됐다.
에어버스 디펜스 앤 스페이스 항공전력 부문 총괄인 장-브리스 뒤몽은 “이번 주문은 C295에 대한 스페인의 헌신을 재확인하는 것으로, 국가의 전략적 자율성과 주권을 강화하는 동시에 스페인 항공 산업과 전체 산업 생태계의 발전을 촉진한다”며 “이 계약을 통해 스페인 공군·우주군은 수송, 해상초계, 감시 구성으로 46대의 C295 기단을 운용하게 될 것”이라고 말했다.
이번 18대의 C295는 두 개의 물량으로 나뉘며, 첫 번째 물량은 살라망카 마타칸 공군기지에 위치한 군 수송 항공학교에서 승객, 공수부대원, 화물 수송 및 훈련에 투입될 예정이다.
두 번째 물량의 C295는 수동 및 자동 공수부대원 투하, 그리고 화물 투하 임무에 사용될 예정이다. 수송 구성의 C295는 병력 70명 또는 공수부대원 50명을 수송할 수 있는 능력을 갖추고 있다.
첫 번째 물량의 C295는 2026년부터 2028년 사이에 인도될 예정이며, 두 번째 물량은 2030년부터 2032년 사이에 도입될 예정이다.
이번 계약에는 여러 대의 비행 시뮬레이터, 컴퓨터 기반 교육 시스템, 훈련 관리 소프트웨어를 포함하는 첨단 지상 훈련 체계 공급이 포함되며, 이는 무르시아에 위치한 군 수송학교와 군 공수학교를 지원하게 된다.
또한 계약에는 군 수송학교에서 운용되는 C295 기단에 대한 종합적인 지원도 포함되는데, 여기에는 항공기 정비, 항공기에 필요한 모든 물자의 관리, 그리고 2032년 12월까지의 훈련센터 운영 관리가 포함된다.

Airbus has confirmed an order from the Spanish Ministry of Defense for 18 Airbus C295 transport aircraft that will replace the country’s CN235 and C212 fleets.

On December 23, 2025, Airbus said that with the new order means that the Spanish Air and Space Force will operate a total fleet of 46 C295s in transport, maritime patrol and surveillance configuration.

Details surrounding the order were made public in September 2025, when the Spanish government announced it is allocating $4.3 billion (€3.68 billion) to purchase new fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters for its armed forces.

The package included Hürjet advanced jet trainers, C295 transport aircraft and NH-90, H135 and H175 helicopters to fulfill a range of different roles.

On December 18, 2025, it was also announced that Spain has placed orders for 100 Airbus helicopters through the Directorate General for Armament and Material (DGAM).

“This order reaffirms Spain’s commitment to the C295, reinforcing national strategic autonomy and sovereignty while boosting the development of the Spanish aeronautical industry and the entire industrial ecosystem,” said Jean-Brice Dumont, Head of Air Power at Airbus Defence and Space. “With this contract, the Spanish Air and Space Force will operate a fleet of 46 C295s in transport, maritime patrol and surveillance configurations.”

The 18 C295s will be split into two batches, with the first dedicated to training and the transport of passengers, paratroopers, and cargo at the Military Air Transport School at Matacán Air Base in Salamanca.

The second group of C295s will be used for manual and automatic paratrooper drops, as well as cargo drops. The C295s in transport configuration have the capacity to carry 70 troops or 50 paratroopers.

The first group of C295s are scheduled to be delivered between 2026 and 2028 while the second batch should arrive between 2030 and 2032.

The agreement includes the supply of an advanced ground training system encompassing several flight simulators, computer-aided teaching systems, and training management software for the Military Transport School and the Military Paratrooper School in Murcia.

The contract also includes comprehensive support for the C295 fleet at the Military Transport School, which will cover aircraft maintenance, the management of all necessary material for the aircraft, and the management of the training center until December 2032.
