I don't remember mama
She died when I was born
We lived in a one room shanty
But daddy tried to make it a home

People would throw me pennies
So I could daddy make ends meet

Spread the music from town to town
There's not enough song in this old world

By the time I was 10 years old
I had a rock n roll band
Daddy's eyes were growing dim
But I didn't understand
He said he would be so proud of me
Each time he'd hear us play
At night he'd pull me to his side
And daddy would always say

He didn't have much money
But things didn't seem so bad
I felt just like the queen of the world
When I was with my dad
Then one rainy April night
Daddy called me to his side
He held me with his tremblin hands
Right before he died

그래도 오막살이 단칸방에서 행복하게 지냈죠

내가 여섯살 되던 해부터 거리에서 노래 불렀죠

노래 듣고 내게 던져주는 동전으로 아버지와 살았죠

아버지는 말했죠 내 노래를 듣고 싶어하는 사람들이

너를 둘러 싸리라

아버지는 말했죠 마을마다 달려오는 너에 노래 소리

찬란하게 빛나리라

내가 열살 되던 해에 조그만  록켄롤밴드  가지고

노래 즐겨듣는 사람 위해 나는 매일 노래 불렀죠

점점 자라는 나를 보시는 아버지의 두 눈에

기쁨 감추지 못하는 눈물이 가득 고여 있었죠

아버지는 말했죠 내 노래를 듣고 싶어하는 사람들이

너를 둘러 싸리라

아버지는 말했죠 마을마다 달려오는 너에 노래 소리

찬란하게 빛나리라

돈은 많이 벌지 못해도 아빠 곁에 있으면

온 세상에서 제일 행복하게 느껴지곤 했답니다

그러나 비오던 4월 어느날 아버지는 돌아가셨죠

항상 내게 하시던 그 말씀 이젠 들을수 없네

아버지는 말했죠 내 노래를 듣고 싶어하는 사람들이

너를 둘러 싸리라

아버지는 말했죠 마을마다 달려오는 너의노래 소리
