혹시 놓치거나 잘못 듣는 부분이 있을까봐 영어자막이 없는 영상은 번역하지 않으려했는데
짧은 비디오들에 재밌는 내용, 유익한 내용들이 많아 번역해보려고 합니다.
아잔브람께서 쓰신 책에 나와있지 않은 이야기도 많고요

영어실력이 많이 부족합니다ㅠㅠ
혹시 제가 놓친 부분이나 수정사항 있으면 무엇이든 알려주세요.
(특히 제가 잘 알아듣지 못한 이탤릭 체로 해놓은 부분은 특히 더 조언 부탁드려요)

There was one of these monks.
한 스님이 계셨어요.

and he was living in the jungle.
그 분은 정글에 사셨습니다.

and living in the jungle, meditating,
정글에 사시며 명상을 하셨죠.

in those days, you know, people will be able to feed you, no problem at all.
그 시절, 사람들은 (그 분께) 음식을 드릴 수 있었고, (그 생활에는) 아무 문제도 없었죠.

and he had that perfect solitude meditating day and night. really good monk
그 분은 밤낮으로 명상할 수 있는 완벽한 고독을 가지고 있으셨어요. 정말 훌륭한 스님이셨고요

and of course that's just.. it just happens after time you get these deep meditations
깊은 명상을 한 후에.. 그냥 일어나는 일이죠,

and after deep meditations, sometimes you get these powers
깊은 명상을 하고 나면, 여러분은 때때로 이런 능력들을 가지게 돼요.

and actually, you know, he could fly through the air
실제로 그분은 공중을 가로질러 날 수 있으셨어요

and he would just, every morning, just have a flight like, almost like exercise
그리고 그 분은 매일 아침 비행을 하셨어요, 거의 운동처럼요

but the trouble was that somebody saw him
그런데 문제는 누군가 그를 보았다는 거예요.

this is why if any of you do get psychic powers, please don't do them in public
이러한 이유로, 여러분 중 누군가라도 초능력을 얻으시면, 부디 그걸 사람들 있는데서 하지 마시라는 거예요.

becuase you always get into big trouble every time.
여러분이 언제나 매번 큰 문제에 처할 것이기 때문이죠.

so, somebody saw him, of course the word gets around, and when the word gets around.. 
자, 누군가 보았고, 물론 소문이 퍼졌고, 소문이 퍼지면..

you know, for example, you know, it's not the case
예를 들어, 이 경우는 아니지만 (진짜 그렇다는 것은 아닌데 (??))

If you heard that someone at Dhammasara Nuns Monastery could fly through the air
담마사라 비구니 사찰의 누군가가 공중부양할 수 있다는 걸 들으신다면

you'd all go down there, have a look 
여러분은 모두 거기 가서, 한 번 보려고 하시겠죠.

and then you would be hassling the nuns
그리고 비구니 스님들을 귀찮게 하실거예요 

"come on, just show us, come on, come on"
"한 번 만요, 좀 보여주시죠, 해보세요 해보세요."

but anyway this monk, and soon the word got to the king
어쨌든 이 스님은.. 곧 왕이 이 소문을 들었어요

and the king said I always wanted to see, you know, a real monk levitating.
왕이 말했어요. "난 항상 '진짜 스님'이 공중부양하는 걸 보고 싶었어"

would you like to see a monk levitate? would you? 
여러분도 스님이 공중부양하는 걸 보고 싶으신가요? 그러신가요?

Of course you would
물론 그러실 겁니다.

yes, so the king would, oh no, we're not gonna do it, so forget about it.
그래서 왕도 그랬죠, 아뇨, 저희는 (공중부양) 하지 않을 거니, 잊어버리세요.

but this king,
그런데 이 왕은,

you know, if you're a king, you got power, so he sent his army up there
왕이면 힘이 있고, 군대를 거기 보냈죠

you know, he said .....???? "the king summoned you"
그가 말했어요. "왕이 당신을 소환했습니다."

"I don't wanna go to the palace. I'm just a simple monk"
"저는 궁전에 가고 싶지 않아요. 저는 그저 소박한 스님입니다."

he said, "nono, this is not a request. you're coming."
그가 말했어요. "아뇨 이건 요청이 아닙니다. 당신은 (궁전에) 오실 겁니다."

so, you know, he brought him to the palace
그래서 그가 스님을 궁전으로 데려왔습니다.

and the king was a really good sort of Buddhist, he actually built a little kuti, a hut for this monk
왕은 정말 좋은 불자였고, 실제로 작은 꾸띠, 이 스님을 위한 오두막을 지어줬어요

you know, in this forest, in the grounds
(궁전)구내, 숲 속에요.

and said "monk, just you know, you can stay here. no, you can't. you will stay here.
그리고 말했죠. "스님, 여기서 지내셔도 됩니다. 아뇨. 여기 계실 겁니다.

and I would just want to, I want to feed you, make merits, make good karma
저는 당신께 음식을 드리고, 기여를 하고 싶어요. 좋은 까르마를 만들고 싶어요.

cause you're obviously a holy monk
왜냐면 당신은 분명 성스러운 스님이실테니까요.

and to ask questions, you know, about Dhamma
그리고 담마에 대한 질문을 하고

also get some advice on (..) running my kingdome 
또 제 왕국을 경영하는 충고를 좀 얻고 싶어요,

cause you're obviously wise
왜냐면 스님은 분명 지혜로우실 테니까요

and you know, in it for the money, like all my ministers and politicians
여기 (궁전)에서, 장관들과 정치인들이 돈을 위해 하는 것 처럼 (????)

you know, you're just wise,
스님은 지혜로우시잖아요.

I'll feed you, you live here,
제가 음식을 드릴게요. 여기 사시고,

you can meditate and fly through the air as much as you like
원하시는 만큼, 명상 하시고 공중을 가로질러 날으실 수 있으세요.

and I want you to be my like-wise advisor
저는 당신이 저의 지혜로운 조언자 비슷하게 되시기를 바랍니다.

, which made a lot of sense.
이거 상당히 말이 되죠.

so the monk assented
그래서 스님이 수긍하셨고

and you know, the king would feed him really nice food
왕은 정말 좋은 음식을 드렸고

and he'd be (you know? now?) in this little forest in the palace ground
그 분은 궁전 내 작은 숲 속에 계셨어요

(it's just?) like being in the jungle, every morning, he go for his exercise through the air
정글에 있는 것과 같았죠. 매일 아침, 공중을 가로지르며 운동 가시고

but one day, as he was coming into land
그런데 어느 날, 그 분이 땅으로 오는데

that morning, the person who was bringing him food was one of the princesses
그 날 아침 그 분께 음식을 가져다 준 사람이 공주들 중 한 명이였어요.

because the king couldn't come himself.
왜냐면 왕이 올 수 없었기 때문이었어요

and she was drop-dead gorgeous, a hot chick.         (drop-dead는 '급사하다, 죽이게 ~한'/ drop은 '떨어지다' dead는 '죽다')
그 공주는 넋을 쏙 뺄 만큼 매력적이였어요. 핫한 여자였죠

and this monk was just coming into land, and he just saw her
이 스님이 땅으로 오고 있었는데, 그녀를 본 거예요.

just one moment, that's all it took. one moment of lust 
단 한 순간. 그게 필요한 전부였어요. 한 순간의 애욕.

and he lost his ability to fly and had to do crash landing.   (crash: 쿵, 추락/ crash landing: 불시착, 파손착륙)
그 분은 날 수 있는 능력을 잃고, 불시착 하셔야만 했답니다.  

and when he realized..
그 분이 알았을 때..

he couldn't fly after that
그 분은 그 후로 날 수 없었어요

so he walked back,
그 분은 (정글로) 걸어 돌아가셨어요,  

that after the lunch, he walked right back
점심 후, 그 분은 바로 (정글로) 걸어 돌아가셨어요
점심 갖다주는 공주보고 신통력 잃어서, 올 때는 날아서 오셨다가 점심 드신 후에는 못날고 걸어서 가셨다는..

왕에 대해선 조금도 신경쓰지 않고요.

it took him two or three years to get his flying powers back again
그 분이 날 수 있는 능력을 다시 갖기 까지는 2~3년이 걸렸어요

that was how sensitive these psychic powers are
이게 '초능력이 얼마나 민감한가' 입니다.

so yes, there are psychic powers.
네 그렇습니다. 초능력은 있어요 

but just one bit of anger, one bit of lust, one bit of pride
그런데 단지 아주 조금의 화, 아주 조금의 정욕, 아주 조금의 자부심에

they all vanish. disappear.
초능력은 모두 사라집니다. 사라지지요.

that's how sensitive they are
이것이 초능력이 얼마나 민감한지 입니다.

so you guys,
그러니 여러분. 

you know, because you're not... not the bhikkhunis, but you are not monks
(지금 저 자리 옆에 비구니 스님들도 앉아 계시기에) "여러분은... 아 비구니 스님들 빼고, 여러분은 스님이 아니잖아요."

you know you haven't overcome anger and lust
여러분이 화와 정욕을 극복하지 못하셨다는 것을 스스로 알고 계시니까,

so please don't go flying through the air.
부디 공중을 가로질러 날아 가시지 마세요

you'll get high up there
저 높이 올라가시면

somebody will come up, somebody will make a noise
누군가 올 거고, 누군가 소리를 낼 거고

is that person again
(여러분은) 또 저 인간이야? 하실 거고

and you'll come crashing down to ground again, then hurt yourself
여러분은 땅으로 내려와 쾅 하실거예요, 그리고 다치실 거예요

that's why we don't do these psychic powers,
이것이 우리가 이런 초능력을 하지 않는 이유랍니다. 

but that was the psychic power a long~ time ago
오~래 전의 초능력 (이야기)이죠.

so we wanted to hear? okay, "what is mind?"
자 들어볼까요? 좋습니다. "마음이란 무엇인가?"

(점심으로 드실 음식 갖다주는 공주보고 신통력 잃어서, 올 때는 날아서 오셨다가 점심 드신 후에는 못날고 걸어서 가셨다는..ㅎㅎ)

because you all know, (not the beginners? not the peculiars?) but you are not monks
-> you know, because you're..., not the bhikkhunis, but you are not monks.
