제20장

[소발의 두 번째 말]

1.	나아마 사람 소발이 대답하여 이르되

2.	그러므로 내 초조한 마음이 나로 하여금 대답하게 하나니 이는 내 중심이 조급함이니라

3.	내가 나를 부끄럽게 하는 책망을 들었으므로 나의 슬기로운 마음이 나로 하여금 대답하게 하는구나

4.	네가 알지 못하느냐 예로부터 사람이 이 세상에 생긴 때로부터

5.	악인이 이긴다는 자랑도 잠시요 경건하지 못한 자의 즐거움도 잠깐이니라

6.	그 존귀함이 하늘에 닿고 그 머리가 구름에 미칠지라도

7.	자기의 똥처럼 영원히 망할 것이라 그를 본 자가 이르기를 그가 어디 있느냐 하리라

8.	그는 꿈 같이 지나가니 다시 찾을 수 없을 것이요 밤에 보이는 환상처럼 사라지리라

9.	그를 본 눈이 다시 그를 보지 못할 것이요 그의 처소도 다시 그를 보지 못할 것이며

10.	그의 아들들은 가난한 자에게 은혜를 구하겠고 그도 얻은 재물을 자기 손으로 도로 줄 것이며

11.	그의 기골이 청년 같이 강장하나 그 기세가 그와 함께 흙에 누우리라

12.	○그는 비록 악을 달게 여겨 혀 밑에 감추며

13.	아껴서 버리지 아니하고 입천장에 물고 있을지라도

14.	그의 음식이 창자 속에서 변하며 뱃속에서 독사의 쓸개가 되느니라

15.	그가 재물을 삼켰을지라도 토할 것은 하나님이 그의 배에서 도로 나오게 하심이니

16.	그는 독사의 독을 빨며 뱀의 혀에 죽을 것이라

17.	그는 강 곧 꿀과 엉긴 젖이 흐르는 강을 보지 못할 것이요

18.	수고하여 얻은 것을 삼키지 못하고 돌려 주며 매매하여 얻은 재물로 즐거움을 삼지 못하리니

19.	이는 그가 가난한 자를 학대하고 버렸음이요 자기가 세우지 않은 집을 빼앗음이니라

20.	○그는 마음에 평안을 알지 못하니 그가 기뻐하는 것을 하나도 보존하지 못하겠고

21.	남기는 것이 없이 모두 먹으니 그런즉 그 행복이 오래 가지 못할 것이라

22.	풍족할 때에도 괴로움이 이르리니 모든 재난을 주는 자의 손이 그에게 임하리라

23.	그가 배를 불리려 할 때에 하나님이 맹렬한 진노를 내리시리니 음식을 먹을 때에 그의 위에 비 같이 쏟으시리라

24.	그가 철 병기를 피할 때에는 놋화살을 쏘아 꿰뚫을 것이요

25.	몸에서 그의 화살을 빼낸즉 번쩍번쩍하는 촉이 그의 쓸개에서 나오고 큰 두려움이 그에게 닥치느니라

26.	큰 어둠이 그를 위하여 예비되어 있고 사람이 피우지 않은 불이 그를 멸하며 그 장막에 남은 것을 해치리라

27.	하늘이 그의 죄악을 드러낼 것이요 땅이 그를 대항하여 일어날 것인즉

28.	그의 가산이 떠나가며 하나님의 진노의 날에 끌려가리라

29.	이는 악인이 하나님께 받을 분깃이요 하나님이 그에게 정하신 기업이니라

Chapter20

1.	Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,

2.	Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for this I make haste.

3.	I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer.

4.	Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed upon earth,

5.	That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

6.	Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;

7.	Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?

8.	He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.

9.	The eye also which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.

10.	His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods.

11.	His bones are full of the sin of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.

12.	Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue;

13.	Though he spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth:

14.	Yet his meat in his bowels is turned, it is the gall of asps within him.

15.	He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.

16.	He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper's tongue shall slay him.

17.	He shall not see the rivers, the floods, the brooks of honey and butter.

18.	That which he laboured for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down: according to his substance shall the restitution be, and he shall not rejoice therein.

19.	Because he hath oppressed and hath forsaken the poor; because he hath violently taken away an house which he builded not;

20.	Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired.

21.	There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods.

22.	In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him.

23.	When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain it upon him while he is eating.

24.	He shall flee from the iron weapon, and the bow of steel shall strike him through.

25.	It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yea, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors are upon him.

26.	All darkness shall be hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.

27.	The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.

28.	The increase of his house shall depart, and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath.

29.	This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.

제21장

[욥의 대답]

1.	욥이 대답하여 이르되

2.	너희는 내 말을 자세히 들으라 이것이 너희의 위로가 될 것이니라

3.	나를 용납하여 말하게 하라 내가 말한 후에 너희가 조롱할지니라

4.	나의 원망이 사람을 향하여 하는 것이냐 내 마음이 어찌 조급하지 아니하겠느냐

5.	너희가 나를 보면 놀라리라 손으로 입을 가리리라

6.	내가 기억하기만 하여도 불안하고 두려움이 내 몸을 잡는구나

7.	어찌하여 악인이 생존하고 장수하며 세력이 강하냐

8.	그들의 후손이 앞에서 그들과 함께 굳게 서고 자손이 그들의 목전에서 그러하구나

9.	그들의 집이 평안하여 두려움이 없고 하나님의 매가 그들 위에 임하지 아니하며

10.	그들의 수소는 새끼를 배고 그들의 암소는 낙태하는 일이 없이 새끼를 낳는구나

11.	그들은 아이들을 양 떼 같이 내보내고 그들의 자녀들은 춤추는구나

12.	그들은 소고와 수금으로 노래하고 피리 불어 즐기며

13.	그들의 날을 행복하게 지내다가 잠깐 사이에 스올에 내려가느니라

14.	그러할지라도 그들은 하나님께 말하기를 우리를 떠나소서 우리가 주의 도리 알기를 바라지 아니하나이다

15.	전능자가 누구이기에 우리가 섬기며 우리가 그에게 기도한들 무슨 소용이 있으랴 하는구나

16.	그러나 그들의 행복이 그들의 손 안에 있지 아니하니 악인의 계획은 나에게서 멀구나

17.	○악인의 등불이 꺼짐과 재앙이 그들에게 닥침과 하나님이 진노하사 그들을 곤고하게 하심이 몇 번인가

18.	그들이 바람 앞에 검불 같이, 폭풍에 날려가는 겨 같이 되었도다

19.	하나님은 그의 죄악을 그의 자손들을 위하여 쌓아 두시며 그에게 갚으실 것을 알게 하시기를 원하노라

20.	자기의 멸망을 자기의 눈으로 보게 하며 전능자의 진노를 마시게 할 것이니라

21.	그의 달 수가 다하면 자기 집에 대하여 무슨 관계가 있겠느냐

22.	그러나 하나님께서는 높은 자들을 심판하시나니 누가 능히 하나님께 지식을 가르치겠느냐

23.	어떤 사람은 죽도록 기운이 충실하여 안전하며 평안하고

24.	그의 그릇에는 젖이 가득하며 그의 골수는 윤택하고

25.	어떤 사람은 마음에 고통을 품고 죽으므로 행복을 맛보지 못하는도다

26.	이 둘이 매 한 가지로 흙 속에 눕고 그들 위에 구더기가 덮이는구나

27.	○내가 너희의 생각을 알고 너희가 나를 해하려는 속셈도 아노라

28.	너희의 말이 귀인의 집이 어디 있으며 악인이 살던 장막이 어디 있느냐 하는구나

29.	너희가 길 가는 사람들에게 묻지 아니하였느냐 그들의 증거를 알지 못하느냐

30.	악인은 재난의 날을 위하여 남겨둔 바 되었고 진노의 날을 향하여 끌려가느니라

31.	누가 능히 그의 면전에서 그의 길을 알려 주며 누가 그의 소행을 보응하랴

32.	그를 무덤으로 메어 가고 사람이 그 무덤을 지키리라

33.	그는 골짜기의 흙덩이를 달게 여기리니 많은 사람들이 그보다 앞서 갔으며 모든 사람이 그의 뒤에 줄지었느니라

34.	그런데도 너희는 나를 헛되이 위로하려느냐 너희 대답은 거짓일 뿐이니라

Chapter21

1.	But Job answered and said,

2.	Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations.

3.	Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.

4.	As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?

5.	Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.

6.	Even when I remember I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh.

7.	Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?

8.	Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.

9.	Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.

10.	Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.

11.	They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.

12.	They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.

13.	They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.

14.	Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.

15.	What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?

16.	Lo, their good is not in their hand: the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

17.	How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger.

18.	They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away.

19.	God layeth up his iniquity for his children: he rewardeth him, and he shall know it.

20.	His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

21.	For what pleasure hath he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst?

22.	Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.

23.	One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.

24.	His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.

25.	And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.

26.	They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.

27.	Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which ye wrongfully imagine against me.

28.	For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked?

29.	Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their tokens,

30.	That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.

31.	Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?

32.	Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.

33.	The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall draw after him, as there are innumerable before him.

34.	How then comfort ye me in vain, seeing in your answers there remaineth falsehood?

제22장

[엘리바스의 세 번째 말]

1.	데만 사람 엘리바스가 대답하여 이르되

2.	사람이 어찌 하나님께 유익하게 하겠느냐 지혜로운 자도 자기에게 유익할 따름이니라

3.	네가 의로운들 전능자에게 무슨 기쁨이 있겠으며 네 행위가 온전한들 그에게 무슨 이익이 되겠느냐

4.	하나님이 너를 책망하시며 너를 심문하심이 너의 경건함 때문이냐

5.	네 악이 크지 아니하냐 네 죄악이 끝이 없느니라

6.	까닭 없이 형제를 볼모로 잡으며 헐벗은 자의 의복을 벗기며

7.	목마른 자에게 물을 마시게 하지 아니하며 주린 자에게 음식을 주지 아니하였구나

8.	권세 있는 자는 토지를 얻고 존귀한 자는 거기에서 사는구나

9.	너는 과부를 빈손으로 돌려보내며 고아의 팔을 꺾는구나

10.	그러므로 올무들이 너를 둘러 있고 두려움이 갑자기 너를 엄습하며

11.	어둠이 너로 하여금 보지 못하게 하고 홍수가 너를 덮느니라

12.	○하나님은 높은 하늘에 계시지 아니하냐 보라 우두머리 별이 얼마나 높은가

13.	그러나 네 말은 하나님이 무엇을 아시며 흑암 중에서 어찌 심판하실 수 있으랴

14.	빽빽한 구름이 그를 가린즉 그가 보지 못하시고 둥근 하늘을 거니실 뿐이라 하는구나

15.	네가 악인이 밟던 옛적 길을 지키려느냐

16.	그들은 때가 이르기 전에 끊겨 버렸고 그들의 터는 강물로 말미암아 함몰되었느니라

17.	그들이 하나님께 말하기를 우리를 떠나소서 하며 또 말하기를 전능자가 우리를 위하여 무엇을 하실 수 있으랴 하였으나

18.	하나님이 좋은 것으로 그들의 집에 채우셨느니라 악인의 계획은 나에게서 머니라

19.	의인은 보고 기뻐하고 죄 없는 자는 그들을 비웃기를

20.	우리의 원수가 망하였고 그들의 남은 것을 불이 삼켰느니라 하리라

21.	○너는 하나님과 화목하고 평안하라 그리하면 복이 네게 임하리라

22.	청하건대 너는 하나님의 입에서 교훈을 받고 하나님의 말씀을 네 마음에 두라

23.	네가 만일 전능자에게로 돌아가면 네가 지음을 받을 것이며 또 네 장막에서 불의를 멀리 하리라

24.	네 보화를 티끌로 여기고 오빌의 금을 계곡의 돌로 여기라

25.	그리하면 전능자가 네 보화가 되시며 네게 고귀한 은이 되시리니

26.	이에 네가 전능자를 기뻐하여 하나님께로 얼굴을 들 것이라

27.	너는 그에게 기도하겠고 그는 들으실 것이며 너의 서원을 네가 갚으리라

28.	네가 무엇을 결정하면 이루어질 것이요 네 길에 빛이 비치리라

29.	사람들이 너를 낮추거든 너는 교만했노라고 말하라 하나님은 겸손한 자를 구원하시리라

30.	죄 없는 자가 아니라도 건지시리니 네 손이 깨끗함으로 말미암아 건지심을 받으리라

Chapter22

1.	Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

2.	Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?

3.	Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect?

4.	Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment?

5.	Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite?

6.	For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.

7.	Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.

8.	But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it.

9.	Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

10.	Therefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee;

11.	Or darkness, that thou canst not see; and abundance of waters cover thee.

12.	Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!

13.	And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud?

14.	Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.

15.	Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?

16.	Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood:

17.	Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them?

18.	Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

19.	The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.

20.	Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth.

21.	Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.

22.	Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.

23.	If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.

24.	Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.

25.	Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.

26.	For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.

27.	Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.

28.	Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

29.	When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

30.	He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.

제23장

[욥의 대답]

1.	욥이 대답하여 이르되

2.	오늘도 내게 반항하는 마음과 근심이 있나니 내가 받는 재앙이 탄식보다 무거움이라

3.	내가 어찌하면 하나님을 발견하고 그의 처소에 나아가랴

4.	어찌하면 그 앞에서 내가 호소하며 변론할 말을 내 입에 채우고

5.	내게 대답하시는 말씀을 내가 알며 내게 이르시는 것을 내가 깨달으랴

6.	그가 큰 권능을 가지시고 나와 더불어 다투시겠느냐 아니로다 도리어 내 말을 들으시리라

7.	거기서는 정직한 자가 그와 변론할 수 있은즉 내가 심판자에게서 영원히 벗어나리라

8.	그런데 내가 앞으로 가도 그가 아니 계시고 뒤로 가도 보이지 아니하며

9.	그가 왼쪽에서 일하시나 내가 만날 수 없고 그가 오른쪽으로 돌이키시나 뵈올 수 없구나

10.	○그러나 내가 가는 길을 그가 아시나니 그가 나를 단련하신 후에는 내가 순금 같이 되어 나오리라

11.	내 발이 그의 걸음을 바로 따랐으며 내가 그의 길을 지켜 치우치지 아니하였고

12.	내가 그의 입술의 명령을 어기지 아니하고 정한 음식보다 그의 입의 말씀을 귀히 여겼도다

13.	그는 뜻이 일정하시니 누가 능히 돌이키랴 그의 마음에 하고자 하시는 것이면 그것을 행하시나니

14.	그런즉 내게 작정하신 것을 이루실 것이라 이런 일이 그에게 많이 있느니라

15.	그러므로 내가 그 앞에서 떨며 지각을 얻어 그를 두려워하리라

16.	하나님이 나의 마음을 약하게 하시며 전능자가 나를 두렵게 하셨나니

17.	이는 내가 두려워하는 것이 어둠 때문이나 흑암이 내 얼굴을 가렸기 때문이 아니로다

Chapter23

1.	Then Job answered and said,

2.	Even to day is my complaint bitter: my stroke is heavier than my groaning.

3.	Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat!

4.	I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.

5.	I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me.

6.	Will he plead against me with his great power? No; but he would put strength in me.

7.	There the righteous might dispute with him; so should I be delivered for ever from my judge.

8.	Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him:

9.	On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him:

10.	But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

11.	My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.

12.	Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

13.	But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.

14.	For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him.

15.	Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him.

16.	For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me:

17.	Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he covered the darkness from my face.

제24장

1.	어찌하여 전능자는 때를 정해 놓지 아니하셨는고 그를 아는 자들이 그의 날을 보지 못하는고

2.	어떤 사람은 땅의 경계표를 옮기며 양 떼를 빼앗아 기르며

3.	고아의 나귀를 몰아 가며 과부의 소를 볼모 잡으며

4.	가난한 자를 길에서 몰아내나니 세상에서 학대 받는 자가 다 스스로 숨는구나

5.	그들은 거친 광야의 들나귀 같아서 나가서 일하며 먹을 것을 부지런히 구하니 빈 들이 그들의 자식을 위하여 그에게 음식을 내는구나

6.	밭에서 남의 꼴을 베며 악인이 남겨 둔 포도를 따며

7.	의복이 없어 벗은 몸으로 밤을 지내며 추워도 덮을 것이 없으며

8.	산중에서 만난 소나기에 젖으며 가릴 것이 없어 바위를 안고 있느니라

9.	어떤 사람은 고아를 어머니의 품에서 빼앗으며 가난한 자의 옷을 볼모 잡으므로

10.	그들이 옷이 없어 벌거벗고 다니며 곡식 이삭을 나르나 굶주리고

11.	그 사람들의 담 사이에서 기름을 짜며 목말라 하면서 술 틀을 밟느니라

12.	성 중에서 죽어가는 사람들이 신음하며 상한 자가 부르짖으나 하나님이 그들의 참상을 보지 아니하시느니라

13.	○또 광명을 배반하는 사람들은 이러하니 그들은 그 도리를 알지 못하며 그 길에 머물지 아니하는 자라

14.	사람을 죽이는 자는 밝을 때에 일어나서 학대 받는 자나 가난한 자를 죽이고 밤에는 도둑 같이 되며

15.	간음하는 자의 눈은 저물기를 바라며 아무 눈도 나를 보지 못하리라 하고 얼굴을 가리며

16.	어둠을 틈타 집을 뚫는 자는 낮에는 잠그고 있으므로 광명을 알지 못하나니

17.	그들은 아침을 죽음의 그늘 같이 여기니 죽음의 그늘의 두려움을 앎이니라

18.	○그들은 물 위에 빨리 흘러가고 그들의 소유는 세상에서 저주를 받나니 그들이 다시는 포도원 길로 다니지 못할 것이라

19.	가뭄과 더위가 눈 녹은 물을 곧 빼앗나니 스올이 범죄자에게도 그와 같이 하느니라

20.	모태가 그를 잊어버리고 구더기가 그를 달게 먹을 것이라 그는 다시 기억되지 않을 것이니 불의가 나무처럼 꺾이리라

21.	그는 임신하지 못하는 여자를 박대하며 과부를 선대하지 아니하는도다

22.	그러나 하나님이 그의 능력으로 강포한 자들을 끌어내시나니 일어나는 자는 있어도 살아남을 확신은 없으리라

23.	하나님은 그에게 평안을 주시며 지탱해 주시나 그들의 길을 살피시도다

24.	그들은 잠깐 동안 높아졌다가 천대를 받을 것이며 잘려 모아진 곡식 이삭처럼 되리라

25.	가령 그렇지 않을지라도 능히 내 말을 거짓되다고 지적하거나 내 말을 헛되게 만들 자 누구랴

Chapter24

1.	Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days?

2.	Some remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed thereof.

3.	They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge.

4.	They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together.

5.	Behold, as wild asses in the desert, go they forth to their work; rising betimes for a prey: the wilderness yieldeth food for them and for their children.

6.	They reap every one his corn in the field: and they gather the vintage of the wicked.

7.	They cause the naked to lodge without clothing, that they have no covering in the cold.

8.	They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.

9.	They pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor.

10.	They cause him to go naked without clothing, and they take away the sheaf from the hungry;

11.	Which make oil within their walls, and tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst.

12.	Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them.

13.	They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.

14.	The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief.

15.	The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth his face.

16.	In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light.

17.	For the morning is to them even as the shadow of death: if one know them, they are in the terrors of the shadow of death.

18.	He is swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the way of the vineyards.

19.	Drought and heat consume the snow waters: so doth the grave those which have sinned.

20.	The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree.

21.	He evil entreateth the barren that beareth not: and doeth not good to the widow.

22.	He draweth also the mighty with his power: he riseth up, and no man is sure of life.

23.	Though it be given him to be in safety, whereon he resteth; yet his eyes are upon their ways.

24.	They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.

25.	And if it be not so now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?
