Leave It to the Lord(Proverbs 20 : 16 ~ 30)

Take a man’s garment when he has put up security for a stranger, and hold it in pledge when he puts up security for foreigners. Bread gained by deceit is sweet to a man, but afterward his mouth will be full of gravel. Plans are established by counsel; by wise guidance wage war. Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with a simple babbler. If one curses his father or his mother, his lamp will be put out in utter darkness. An inheritance gained hastily in the beginning will not be blessed in the end. Do not say scales are not good. A man’s steps are from the Lord; how then can man understand his way? It is a snare to say rashly, “It is holy,” and to reflect only after making vows. A wise king winnows the wicked and drives the wheel over them. The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts. Steadfast love and faithful preserve the king, and by steadfast love his throne is upheld. The glory of young men is their strength, but the splendor of old men is their gray hair. Blows that wound cleanse away evil; strokes make clean the innermost parts.

남의 보증을 선 사람은 자기의 옷을 잡혀야 하고, 모르는 사람의 보증을 선 사람은 자기 몸을 잡혀야 한다. 사람들은 속여서 얻은 빵이 맛있다고 하지만, 훗날에 그 입에 모래가 가득 찰 것이다. 계획은 사람들이 뜻을 모아서 세우고, 전쟁은 전략을 세워 놓고 하여라. 험담하여 돌아다니는 사람은 남의 비밀을 새게 하는 사람이니, 입을 벌리고 다니는 사람과는 어울리지 말아라. 부모를 저주하는 자식은 암흑 속에 있을 때에 등불이 꺼진다. 처음부터 빨리 모은 재산은 행복하게 끝을 맺지 못한다. “악을 갚겠다”하지 말아라. 주님을 기다리면, 그분이 너를 구원하신다. 규격에 맞지 않은 저울추는 주님께서 미워하신다. 속이는 저울은 나쁜 것이다. 사람의 발걸음은 주님으로 말미암은 것이니 사람이 어찌 자기의 길을 알 수 있겠느냐! 경솔하게 “이것은 거룩하다”하여 함부로 서원하여 놓고, 나중에 생각이 달라지는 것은, 사람이 걸리기 쉬운 올가미이다. 지혜로운 왕은 악인을 키질하며, 그들 위에 타작기 바퀴를 굴린다. 주님은 사람의 영혼을 환히 비추시고, 사람의 마음 속 깊은 곳까지 살펴보신다. 인자와 진리가 왕을 지켜 주고, 정의가 그의 보좌를 튼튼하게 한다. 젊은이의 자랑은 힘이요, 노인의 영광은 백발이다. 상처가 나도록 때려야 악이 없어진다. 매는 사람의 속 깊은 곳까지 들어간다.
