6. Antoine Boësset A la find de cette bergere

À la fin cette bergère” is a courtly air (air de cour) composed by Antoine Boësset (1587–1643), a prominent French composer of the early 17th century. It was first published in 1624 in Quatrième livre d’airs de cour à quatre et cinq parties by Pierre Ballard in Paris. The piece is set for four voices (SATB) and also exists with lute tablature arrangements.
The song reflects themes of love and emotional transformation, typical of the air de cour genre. It features a poetic structure of quatrains with a refrain, and its music showcases elegant melodic lines and harmonic richness.
Modern performances include interpretations by ensembles such as Le Poème Harmonique, directed by Vincent Dumestre, and L’Arpeggiata under Christina Pluhar, featuring countertenor Philippe Jaroussky. These recordings highlight the enduring appeal of Boësset’s work in early music repertoire.
