Emmanuel Mudiay는 SMU로

NCAA 농구판에서 일어나지 않을것 같은 일이 오늘 일어났습니다.

리쿠르팅 사이트마다 차이는 있지만 No,1 포인트가드로 뽑히는 Mudiay가

SMU를 픽했습니다. 얼마전까지만 해도 대부분의 예상이 

데릭로즈-존월-브랜든나이트-앤드류 해리슨을 있는 칼리파리의 포인트가드가

되리라 예상되었는데, 켄터키 대신 래리 브라운이 있는 SMU로 가게 되었습니다.

이미 HOF인 래리브라운은 자신의 커리어를 마감하기 전 마지막 작품을 만들수 있는 

좋은 기회를 잡았습니다. 이미 2013년 클래스로 5스타 Keith Frazier를 데려왔는데

다른 서포팅 캐스트만 잘 구성하면 어느 정도 성적을 낼수 있을겁니다. 

SMU는 1980년대 있었던 풋볼프로그램에서의 바이얼레이션으로 

Death Penalty를 받은 오명이 씌워져 있고 많은 미국인들도 

그다지 좋은 이미지로 남아 있지 않은 학교입니다. 조지 W 부시의 

와이프가 나온 학교이기도 하고 Bush presidential 센터가 있기도 하지요. 

Mudiay가 SMU를 선택한 것에는 자신의 집(달라스)과 가까운 것과

래리 브라운에 대한 믿음, 자신의 형도 SMU에서 같이 뛸수 있다는 것이 크게 작용한것 같습니다.

대학농구가 없는 오프 시즌동안 간만에 흥미로운 소식이 나왔네요.  

ESPN의 Muiday에 관한 스카우팅 리포트

Strengths:
A big lead guard who measures six-foot-five with shoes on, Mudiay makes the most of his physical advantage when utilizing the ball screen. He excels at trapping his defender on his back after turning the corner and being very deliberate with his footwork and angles. Combine that with natural poise, floor vision, burst to the rim, and ability to thread the needle with the pocket pass and a ball-screen is the only play this guy needs. He gets to the rim with quick slashes and sweet athletic maneuvers where he can finish with either hand. He has a sweet mid range game that includes a step back jumper going to his left. He has a tight handle excellent court vision but is at his best making scoring plays for himself in crunch time.

Weaknesses:
Still will need to hone his point guard skills especially under intense ball pressure. At times he will dribble into the dead corner and sideline which results in a negative outcome. Mudiay must also work to produce on a consistent basis and keep his motor running throughout the game.

Bottom Line:
Mudiay is a combination guard that is better off the ball at this stage of the game although he is highly productive as well playing the point guard position. He can score at a high rate and make teammates better but when the game in on the line and his team needs him to make a scoring play he is the player that can get it done.
