제28용 失始(실시)......시작을 잊음.......第33事
Section 28 : Sil - si(失始,실시)... Forgetting the Beginning... Item 33.
Sil(失,실) means to forget, and si(始,시) means the beginning or the first.
Even if one initially begins to offer sincerity due to a certain desire,
as they gradually enter a deeper state of cultivation,
that initial desire naturally grows smaller.
In its place, the pure will to embody and practice sin cerity grows progressively larger.
Pushing further into the relm of ultimate truth,
the desire one held at the very beginning completely vanishes,
leaving behind nothing but the pure,
unadulterated devotion to sincerity.
[Original Classical Text]
■ 失은 忘也요 始는 初也라 初有所欲爲而始誠하야
(실은 망야요 시는 초야라 초유소욕위이시성하야)
Sil is to forget(忘,망), and Si is the beginning(初,초).
Inthe beginning, one starts practicing sincerity because there is sometying they desire.
■ 漸入深境則所欲爲는 漸微하고 所欲誠은 漸大하며
(점입심경즉소욕위는 점미하고 소욕성은 점대하며)
As they gradually enter a deeper state, the desire fot personal gain grows faint,
while the desire for true sincerity grows grander.
■ 又漸入眞境則無所欲爲而 只有所欲誠而已라
(우점입진경즉무소욕위이 지유소욕성이이라.)
And as they step further into the realm of ultimate reality,
there is no longer any personal desire left,
but only the pure will for sincerity itself.
[Commentary]
Cultivating Sincerity is the process of reaching Absolute Spatiality.
This absolute spatiality refers to aneternal,
immutable state that has neitre a beginning nor an end.
Therefore, when one first begins to practice sincerity,
a "beginning" exists because it relies on the concept of time(temporality).
However, as the practice deepens, this linear sense of time dissolves,
and one enters a purely spatial, eternal realm.
Consequently, thee niital beginning is forgotten,
and when the beginning ceases to exist,
the end vanishes along with it.
『"Sil(失,실) means to forget, and Si(始,시) means the beginning.
Even if person initally begins to cultivate Sincerity driven by a specific,
worldlt desire, a transformation occurs as they progress into deeper states
of spiritual practice: that original selfish desire gradually diminishes.
In its place, the prew volition to remain sincere steadily expands.
As they continuoaly ascend into the realm of ultimae truth,
the inital desire completly dissolves,
leaving behind nothing but the profound, singular will to be sincere.
[Commentary]
The cultvation of Sincerity is an existential labor to transcend linear time
and reach 'Absolute Spatiality.'
Absolute spatiality is an eternal,
immutable reality that possesses neithew beginning nor end.
When you first embark on the path of Sincerity,
your practice initially depends on 'temporality,'
meaning it has a distinct startinng point,
Yet, as you immerse yourself deeper, this bound sense of time fader away,
and you cross over into a timeless, spatial world.
Ultimately, the very notion of a 'beginning' is forgottem,
and when the beginning disappears,
the concept of an 'end' ceases to exist as well."
