FoMCM Cancer Awareness Morning

The Friends of MCM held a Cancer Awareness Coffee Morning in the first week of November raising awareness for breast and prostate cancer in particular. The morning was hosted by Mr Regan, Chair of FoMCM, who welcomed guest speaker Dr. Nadia to discuss how to raise awareness amongst the community and also more practical information such as the signs of cancer and how to check for them. 

11월 첫주 MCM의 친구들이  Cancer Awareness Coffee Morning을 개최했습니다. 이 날은 Mr Regan, Chair of FoMCM의 주최로 Dr. Nadia와 암에 대해 경각심을 불러일으키는 대화릐 시간을 가졌습니다. 

As the parents filtered in, they were welcomed with refreshments including cupcakes adorned with fondant moustaches (representing movember, the month of November when many men grow out their facial hair to raise awareness) and Breast Cancer Awareness pins. 

많은 학부모님들이 참석하여 유방암에 대해 들었습니다. 

Part of the morning was to fundraise money for cancer awareness and further research. One way this was achieved was a College-wide fundraising challenge of filling the ribbon tree. This was a small tree in Taylor where families, children or individuals could donate any amount of money and place a ribbon on the tree. 

An impressive amount of money was raised over the past few weeks. The total fundraising achieved amounted to RM2,972 which will be split between the Breast Cancer Support Group Johor Bahru and BeatProstateCancer.my.
