in Ephesians 6:10-13 NIV, the Bible tells us,

finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power

notice the assumption there
there's a devil and he has plots and plans

he has intelligence for our struggle 

notice what the Christian life is at times

our struggle is not against flesh and blood, about people and material things

and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms

who is this satan?

what can we know about him to help us in this warfare 

well, as i said before, he's the originator of all evil

and he tempts everyone to evil

and all the evil we see in the world

the Bible tells us that he is not omnipresent like God

* Omnipresent means being present everywhere at the same time, or seeming to be always present, 무소부재

he can even come as an angel of light in disguise

but he wants to draw us away from Christ

so he's very subtle and he uses distractions and mockery of the things of God 

and the next thing you know

you've been drifting away from even truth that you once held to and a faith that was once precious 

and you don't know how did i get here to where i am

we cannot be possessed by the devil or the host of demonic spirits that do his bidding

a Christian cannot be inhabited by the Holy Spirit

he's looking for weakness

this reminds me about this kingdom that satan rules over,

everything that runs this world the heads of government

and all that they are not under the influence of Jesus Christ

they are in under the influence of those things which are against God

who grew up in downtown brooklyn and in a semi-rough neighborhood latino descent

and not only pound the kids but pound my friend's mother in front of him

he was thinking of, boy, i wish i could remove my father from this home in every way possible

that's the kind of reaction this young man had to this evil going on around him

and going clubbing and just entering into a kind of darkness of his own

he was smoking 40, 50 joints a day

every kind of cocaine, every kind of psychedelic drug that was around and trendy in that day

he lost feeling

 i saw pictures of him back then

it looks like nobody's home

his own family and friends noticed the change and started to say to him

so he got involved in street gangs and beating up people

and one day as he's beating up a guy

someone else, a drug dealer is watching him beat up this guy

and he goes, hey what are you doing that for?

and my friend said, hey, what's that your business? 

i'll come over there

and give you a piece of this action

and the guy goes, no, i want to talk to you

 you can work for me

 i'm watching how violent and physical you can be

 and the next thing you know

he's enforcing things for this drug dealer collecting money

and if people didn't pay you can imagine what happened

and that was his life no feeling, zero 

mugging uh senior citizens in the street in downtown brooklyn

they would look in him and just get totally afraid

because he was just violence

well, his friends were getting married

he wanted to have a family

so he ended up getting married his wife

got pregnant and lost the baby

he was able to hold a job

but totally doing things crazy on the side

the infamous uh dance hall in New York city

this was a place where his friends went and just partied all night, drugs unlimited 

his wife gets pregnant loses the baby

she gets pregnant again she loses another baby

so now something inside of him breaks

he's going through this pain

and she gets pregnant the third time

he actually prays for the first time

the baby is born but a couple weeks later the baby dies

someone invites them to visit our church

well, that day he received Jesus Christ
